Beginning:
- heavy endless period, endless.
- lost my hair line and crown and most of my brastrap length natural hair.
- triggered a yeast infection - when I went to get treatment I was told to take Control birth control pills for three days, one a day...
- I noticed it can kill sexdrive so I made an effort to mentally talk myself into sex and now I have the opposite problem, lol.
Now:
- period normal
- I lost a lot of stuborn weight
- my acne has cleared up
- all my hair has grown back
- skin softer all over
- reduced severity of migraines
It is synthetic hormones so I do worry about ong term side effects

I can’t take the pill & im not a fan of iud’s cause of the side effects & the chances of them coming loose... I’ve weighed out literally all options & just came to the conclusion condoms are my best option...
I have Paragard. It's a non-hormonal copper IUD. I still get my periods, and they last a few days longer than usual but they aren't any heavier. It's worked great. No discomfort. Doesn't shift during vigorous activity. I do reach up in there to feel the strings every so often. Though I can only feel them when I'm not aroused. When I was 19 I was on the pill. But at 30 I didn't want anything fukking with my libido or weight. I like that surge in desire when my period is getting ready to start, so that's why I went with that. With insurance, I had to pay 325.00 for it. It's about 1100-1300 without.
I know a few of us have talked about BC in the random thoughts thread, so I figured it would be nice to have a thread specifically about BC.
Have you ever been on BC?
If so, which ones?
Is there one that you loved/hated?
Did you have any side effects?
How long were you on BC?
So far, I've used:
The Nuva ring
Was good at first, but after a while I noticed I started getting headaches. They probably could have been considered migraines. They would last a week if I didn't take medicine at the moment I started feeling pain. I think the headaches would start the say after I took the Nuva ring out.
Also, I noticed I would get a dime size bald spot if I used the rings back to back.
No sex drive.
I don't remember how long I was on it, but it was at least 5 years
Depo shot
I was on this also for about 5 years.
No sex drive
No periods
I think being on this gave me a little stomach pudge when I was on it.
I only gained about 2 lbs a year.
Seasonique (the generic)
Been on it for a little over a month.
My whole goal for being on it was to not get my period. And what do I have now? My period.
I've had cramp for the last 4 days. (Off BC my cramps only last 1 day, and my period 3 days)
Possibly has lessened my libido. (Not like the other 2, but I'm not horny all the time either).
it does seem to lessen the amt of vaginal fluids- which is good.
