that year where wayne dropped mixtape after mixtape, was on 50+ R&B features, and dropped C3 shortly after to get no respect contract wise, label wise, or any sort of autonomy is just and at the same time. every other artist at his level of popularity has some sort of control over their career



one of the biggest stars the genre has ever seen is crying about not being able to release an album while j cole can drop an album without a music video, single on the radio, etc. I wonder if we'll see more of a shift where dudes are less worried about making obscene amounts of money versus some level of autonomy over their career
