yo , when the baby comes out with the cord , is part of the cord still stuck to the mother? or does the umbilical cord get detached and come right out with the baby??? i know it has to get off the baby

Yes the rest is inside the mother, it comes out with the afterbirth. They cut the cord off the baby after birth though.

Natural birth is best, drugs definitely prolong birth. I had my son natural, no pain & no stitches . Of course my husband was but after I got his son out he was. Just a whole lot of pushing and .

Its attached to the placenta/afterbirth which comes out after the birth of the baby. The mom has to push that out too. During the pregnancy the placenta is attached to the mom, it detaches after birth.

Baby ---> umbilical cord ---> placenta ---> mom
