I think that he is probably overrated only because "innovation" as a buzzword is just omnipresent right now. Let's be real, the dude didn't invent the transistor or the motherfukking laser like Bell Labs did. He realized that people would pay for a premium product that had nice industrial design. Someone was going to make a nice looking digital walkman, but he did it well.

No. Have you read the Steve Jobs bio? I have. If your read it, you'll see that Jobs mainly took other people's ideas and concepts and marshalled them into cohesive products that met his standards and vision. Literally NOTHING at Apple could move forward until he explicitly reviewed it, analyzed it and approved it. Its the reason for the current uniformity across all Apple products.
Notice how no one knew who the fukk Johnny Ive was outside of Apple until Steve died. No one was allowed to express themselves individually without steve's authorization. This is the reason why i think ultimately Apple will fail without Steve at the helm because he was far to integral to the operation of that company.
Bill Burr is too honest and real for TV, you can see the audience had no idea how to react to someone who speaks against the grain

Y'all taking this too serious. Burr is a comedian (a great one, at that). His first priority is to make you laugh. Comedians don't always believe in what they rant about on stage.

but again listen to the podcasts, its him more open and rambling. Not much like his stand ups at all really.

actually it made all the sense in the world. like the guy said on the couch. jobs just sat there and said "HEY i want my entire playlist in that phone. GET ON IT" and the engineers got on it. engineers are like computers. they can do anything you ask. but you have to ask them what to do. for them to come up with things. a lot of times they dont have the VISION to create these great products. it takes a lay person with great vision and a great engineer to make it happen.
now truth is you can have a great engineer without a great visionary and still pull off some really good products. but it wont be on par with the paring of great visionary meets great engineer.
there are great singers out there that dont write their own hits. but there are also hit makers that dont sing their own hits. usually those people can sing well. but not well as the singers that made the hit with their lyrics.
