I loved this movie when I was a kid, it still gets major rotation at my house.
Easily John Carpenters most underated classic.

The story was great

The characters where fantastic (Jack Burton is easily one of Kurt Russels best and funniest)

And the fights where great plus the effects for their time where really good

Oh and ofcourse who could forget the three storms...

I love that because it's Kurt Russell, everyone expects Jack Burton to be the hero but he's actually a lovable bumbling oaf and Wang Chi is the one who kicks the most ass, who's most highly-skilled. It's great because this could easily be fukked up, with the white dude as the competent adventurous one and the Chinese character as the one who screws up everything. In the end, both of the characters are still great. We can admire Jack Burton even though he's not as good as he thinks he is.

It's funny I was watching it and I thought the same thing, half way through I'm like dang my boy wang is a much better hero than jack burton.
