Despite rumors that he was prepared to hang up the wrestling boots in 2018,
Big Show confirmed on
The Steve Austin Show (h/t
Pro Wrestling Sheet), that he has signed a new contract with the WWE.
Big Show said that the new deal is for three years, where he will have "a more limited role," as a part-time superstar and as an ambassador for the company. The future Hall of Famer also said he had to miss the
Greatest Royal Rumble because of a 3.5 centimeter hole that developed after he had hip surgery.
Triple H convinced The World's Largest Athlete to rest at home rather than compete in the 50-man rumble.
In an interview with
Sports Illustrated last year, Big Show did say that his contract was running up in early 2018, and he was bracing himself for retirement. However, he also added that The Game made such a good offer on a new contract that he "couldn't refuse." Hence, this epic career in the ring isn't over yet.
Big Show's last match happened on the Sept. 4 episode of
Monday Night Raw, where he lost to Braun Strowman in a Steel Cage match. The Monster Among Men slammed Big Show through the cage, and this was done so he could appear injured and take time off television to undergo hip surgery.

Though the two-time WWE and eight-time Tag Team Champion has been slowed in the ring with injuries and age, he's been a loyal soldier to
Vince McMahon since coming over to the company in 1999 - leaving WCW after discontent with his pay.
With that, it's clear that the WWE chairman and Triple H feel it's necessary to keep Big Show on - whether it's as a superstar or in a backstage role. He's done everything asked for over his 19 years with the company, and Big Show has definitely earned the right to stay on for as long as he wants. We know he'll be here in the WWE for at least the next three years.
