Was definitely my fav album of 1998, and that was a big year for hiphop.

Yeeeah Baby had a more commercial sound with the production
As far as Pun's performance as an emcee on the album, he had gained more weight and that had an impact on his performance as an emcee
But that album had some gems on it too
If I remember it right Pun openly admitted he was gonna dumb down his lyrics on most tracks and with a more commercial sound on his second album. Health was the biggest issue, he couldn't spit more than one line at a time anymore.
Yeah Baby still heat though. Had that in heavy rotation for a while.

Yeah, that's what I remember hearing too. I think the Yeeeah Baby album has some gems on it.
Exactly, he wasn't able to spit like he did on Capital Punishment because of his weight.

I was probably listening to this album more than anything else, at the time. Top shelf lyricism and exactly what we needed back then, while everyone else was watering down their shyt. Pun put a lot of weight on between this album and the second joint, and supposedly had to be punched in for every other line because he was so out of breath. So his presence on the mic was never the same after CP. Which made this album and everything else he was featured on '96-'99 even more dope. He was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of talent. Definitely a special MC.
