Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com is reporting that John Cena’s ankle injury is a work and was done to write Cena off the Royal Rumble PPV. Cena was originally not expected for the Rumble PPV since he was scheduled to begin work on his next movieproject.

The original plan was reportedly for Lars Sullivan to attack John Cena and then Cena would return for a match with Sullivan at Wrestlemania. Due to Sullivan suffering what was apparently an anxiety attack, WWE decided to claim that it was Drew McIntyre that injured Cena. Filming for Cena’s movie is expected to wrap up just prior to Wrestlemania.
