one of my fav artists. this is kinda big. hes gonna hav to get those samples cleared regardless if he's indie or moving to another label. why all the rejoicing? but i do wonder as an artist what exactly was his budget being spent on? cut out the samples, vids were nothing extravagant and neither were his feat.

Not being abke to sample was killing Krit.

Interested to see what homie has cooking on his next joint.

Probably not. Sample laws are impacting mixtapes too now after the Finesse/Mac Miller fukkery.

True but he would have more freedom regardless, he didn't have the kinda pull to just be Krit. I mean even if everything he does is mixtape shyt then at least he'll be able to make show money but even still I think Def Jam at this point is more of a hindrance than an asset.

Def Jam is a terrible label to sign to tbh. Hopefully K.R.I.T. makes great music and stays independent. If he stays Independent then he can make so much money.
Why?

It has obviously worked out for a lot of people.

I liked KRIT but it quickly became obvious that he was recycling the same themes and concepts over and over. I can only listen to someone talk waking up in the morning, getting in his car, his sub, candy paint wheels, something happens that causes him to become introspective, he heads to [insert chick] to fukk his troubles away, then the final introspective moments before he goes to bed.
:jbhmm:

And don't get me wrong, I like the mixtapes. R4 Theme Song was on my playlist as I drove to work today. But it feels like he telling the same story with diminishing returns. And now that he can't go ham with the samples? Nah...
