Very underrated. I never thought Dre was ahead of him, he was just capable of higher heights but Big Boi always held his own and sometimes had the better verse

aesthethic is a big part of his "undermining" his style is not something well liked as Andre's more "flamboyant" style that hipsters and hypebeast love.

A lot of the hooks we sing along to on those OutKast songs were Big Boi's.
Andre 3000 and Big Boi were the perfect compliments of each other. Big Boi's style is more straight forward bars although he can get introspective and thought provoking when he wants to. Andre 3000 became more inteospective and thought provoking from ATLiens forward. There were subtle differences in their styles on Southernplayalistic. You could literally hearing them growing apart with each album afterward. By the time we got Stankonia, hearing Andre 3000 on "?" was out there. It sounded nothing like anything else Kast had done. It was a little more left than even "B.O.B." like a solo Andre 3000 version of that song. Then came Speakerboxxx/Love Below and most of Andre's portion sounds nothing like a Kast album while Big Boi's feels like a Kast album.

AZ is the most underrated but Big Boi is right there behind him.
Everyone (including me) got washed on the hype of the Love Below but Speakerboxxx is literally a PERFECT rap album in its own right. Sir Lucious Left Foot is an excellent album as well.

I don’t think he’s as much underrated as under appreciated. Like others said, the obsession with Dre, especially those who rely on popular opinion to inform them of what they should think, had people not appreciating how effortlessly Big Boi be flowing and how versatile he is.
