The ban is also because of the influence the Chinese Communist Party has over all companies in China. If they wanted TikTok algorithms to push videos that discredit the US government or Promote Trump/Biden, then Bytedance would have to comply. With the popularity of the app here in the US, especially with the impressionable youth, there is a fear that they could be being influenced by a hostile foreign power.

You could say the same thing about Facebook and Twitter/X. While US doesn't have as much control over them they could simply brand dissenting narratives as "disinformation" and demand Facebook and Twitter to remove posts and ban posters.
Despite being Russian owned, Telegram seems to be more neutral by allowing Ukrainian to post pro Ukraine views on them, by comparison Reddit banned most pro Russian views on them.
