SOTU speeches don't even matter much if at all, but in this case was a good glimpse at the reality: Biden is alive, not senile, and is the only alternative to Trump. It didn't even hit in 2020 to be honest lol, Fox and a large portion of conservative media refused to play along. They understand a loser is a loser, no point in going down with the ship. And if you can't pull off the coup while in the White House you're not gonna do it outside the White House this time. I'm sure he'll call it rigged and complain as mail ballots get counted on Wednesday morning/afternoon, assuming the election isn't called on election night.
I don't think a Trump loss in 2024 will be "the end" though. Sure he's probably not going to be capable of running again in 2028 but this will remain his party. He'll continue to endorse candidates, dictate policy, and wield power until he dies in my opinion. Whichever republican gets the nomination in 2028 will effectively be running on the MAGA platform. I just don't see a moderate republican being able to win the nomination again anytime soon.
