Her brand and her music aren't interconnected though. Her brand doesn't guarantee that people will check for her music. This album is the prime example of that. Her last album had far more promo and this album is about to do more than that album's first week. If that's the case, every activity involving her and her music is promo. I mean, the commercials featuring songs intended for the album >>>>> her touring. An artist on tour isn't promoting a new unless it's a tour for that particular album. Otherwise, it's just a tour. It's not like she's giving out release dates or performing new songs from the album. The people are just getting treated to old songs, covers, and possibly some new material that may or may not make the album. In this case, the new material she did on tour didn't make the album. You can't really label a tour as promo unless it's a tour in support of a particular album in which the artist actually performs songs from that album.

It doesn't matter how rabid an artist's fan base is, fans are always salivating for new music from the time that it's released until the artist drops something else. The point is Beyonce herself didn't promote anything. The music did.

For the second thing that is bolded, she just sang XO live when she was Chicago, so yeah she is definitely doing music from this album.

Maybe I overstepped saying they weren't interconnected. They are connected in the sense that her music is the biggest piece of her brand, not the other way around. Would we really know who Beyonce was if it weren't for her music? Would "Beyonce" hold weight if not for the music?

Her personal life and her brand are not tied together. "safe singer who has a powerful husband and is a mom" would be considered an image. Her brand is basically the "Beyonce" name which is something that was a brand before she ever even dated Jay Z let alone conceived Blue Ivy. Matthew Knowles began to build the "Beyonce" brand the moment she appeared solo on Missy's "Crazy Feelings" and appeared in Case's "Happily Ever After" as a love interest in '99. The fact she's "a safe singer who has a powerful husband and is a mom" doesn't sell out shows. The fact that people have identified with Beyonce's music even before those two things were a part of her life is what drives her career.

As far as the tour, you don't get it. The tour being referenced was "The Mrs. Carter" (or whatever it was called) tour. It was a world tour that she's been on since the beginning of the year. I think it ended recently, but none of these songs were performed or even referenced.

It sounds like you're seriously confusing press with promotion. She gets a lot of press for what she does on a day-to-day. In turn that press can turn into promotion if she says things like, "I'm working on an album," or "Here's a preview of a video for my new album," or "I've been in the studio a lot lately." There was none of that.

Real talk, I jumped on the bandwagon on the last album (Rather Die Young was :ohlawd:) and I think I got on at the right time. But this album/strategy is on some other shyt to a point where you ask KNOW the whole industry is mad and "inspired" at the same time. She fukkd up a lot of other artists holiday release plans and Bugatti Biebs got put on the back burner.

Her new shyt got put at the top of everyone's rotation:youngsabo:

I really don't understand what all the arguing back forth about "interconnected brands" and shyt have to do with anything. Beyoncé is a superstar PERIOD. One of the few who could pull this type of feat off. Those of us who are Hip Hop heads and appreciate black artists having success without c00ning give her props, even if we aren't the biggest fans of her music it's an impressive accomplishment that no one with ounce of brain can possibly hate on. Hopefully future artists can take this blueprint and in turn create positive buzz and attention towards their own projects.
