You're telling me that her touring isn't promotion for her brand? :leostare: Her brand is what's propelling the sales of this album and being carried by word of mouth. I know this whole "zero promotion" thing is the new shyt for stanning purposes but this album is being promoted, just organically. Promotion isn't limited to just singles, interviews, radio play/payola etc. That's just the typical music promotion. A lot of real world brands will release a product first, let it pick up steam via word of mouth and then follow up with what I guess many of you would call traditional promotion. This is only new to music and only the largest and most relevant music brands can pull this off. So yes, just existing is a form of promotion. Beyonce is high profile and embarking on a huge tour raises that profile. And given how rabid her fanbase is going to see her live will leave them salivating for new music and here it is. All she had to do was drop the bait in the water and the record was going to promote itself via the internet, word of mouth and just the event of a major artist releasing a full album (plus videos) of music with no leaks or singles is going to propel it like a rocket. It worked. It was a gamble but it paid off and saved a somewhat faltering brand.

And Beyonce was just in Houston last week, genius. :snoop:

How do you like the album? Yeh I agree with you. Her entire year has been promotion. The Inauguration, Superbowl, Staring in the Sun, Bow Down(summer songs) But you got let people cook. It's what the rNb/pop genre needed. Gaga while good hasn't delivered musically, Katie Perry roar is kind of lame and Rihanna has saturated the market so much she's beginning to bore. The album is quality to :yeshrug:

Wait 'til the cd hits the shelves breagh...

There's even a scratch and sniff sticker on the insert of the packaging.

And i heard the label replicated the aroma of her amazingly stenchified breath

.

If I may interrupt the stan wars for a second; record labels and the entertainment industry in general is going to give a long, hard look at the effect of piracy on sales after this. The fact that this album sold almost 500K in 24 hours and coincidentally there wasn't a leak or a way to mass pirate it is not going to go unnoticed.

Beyonce has a lot of talent but she doesn't seem to make timeless music to me. Maybe I'm wrong for expecting her to make some sort of Golden Age (60s to 90s) R&B but given her voice I think she could pull it off. We definitely need less of the pop/r&b/hip hop mashups we have now. The album is pretty good for what it is. It's a Beyonce album and I can't expect more than that. I do kind of miss her older, more unrefined raw sound from the DC and early solo days though.

Music aside, this album and event is going to have a huge ripple effect on the music and entertainment industry. Good and bad. Stay tuned.

Exactly!! That's why this is huge and could have rippling effects throughout the industry. One of the reason why smaller artists were able to :eat: so well back then was because the consumer couldn't sample and entire album before buying then resort to buying it illegally. If I heard 3 singles from D'Angelo, I bought the damn album and ran the risk of ending up with a dud. I actually had to gamble a little bit with my dollar. While I like autonomy with my dollar, I try to break bread to smaller artists who are struggling with sales because of this. I bought Miguels album, I bought J Coles Born Sinner, I bought Drake's album...I don't like stealing from people. I bought JT, MCHG, etc.

Whatever you are saying, her shows were not promoting her new music.
It's like saying that a any indie rapper who does this, and sells zero copies as a result wasn't under promoted. Because he had been touring for 5 years with old material, so in your opinion he had been promoting his album for 5 years :dead:

:ehh: Your opinion. I'm still listening to Love on Top, Get Me Bodied I still hear at house parties, Single Ladies, Me Myself and I, Halo. She's had music that has stood the time. I still listen to Janet's 93 Album. I think this is quite possibly her "classic" album. "4" was her highest rated album ever prior to this and Metacritic has given it a full 12 points more. Entertainment Weekly an A-. Billboard 90/100..It's lowest rating is 3.5/5 thus far.

That's pretty impressive. Whoever had the idea to release her album this way was smart. She used word of mouth and the surprise release to get free promo. That's genius. I still don't like how vulgar her songs are so I won't be contributing to her sales.

Who's that in your avi? :takedat:
