Watching the live debut of this shyt this past Saturday and coming away with a 'wow' impression must've been the same way my parents came away 'wowed' when they saw the Thriller mini movie debuted on TV back in late 1983.

In terms of R&B albums that I've heard this year... This is probably the 3rd or 4th best.

In My Mind
Twenty88 (?)

All are better R&B records to me.

The stans have propped this up crazy tho.

It's pretty hard to say the stans, the stans prop up every Veyonce album. This is the highest reviewed album in any genre since TPAB. As I mentioned though, that super high score is most likely due to it being a woman talking about some unfiltered real shyt which really doesn't happen too often. Specially not a pop super star or RnB singer and she does this for the first time 18 years deep into her career,

That along with her checking of every box of the "dope music" list. Eg dope production, mixing mad sounds and styles but having flawless sequencing, not sounding like anything out, vocal execution and delivery was perfectly aligned with the feelings she was trying to convey. It's a dope ass album, it might edge out Malibu for me but not yet. Time will tell. And before the last album I never thought that I would play a full Beyoncé twice.

Did you watch the visual first or just listen to the record?

I didn't watch it, just listened to it on the way to the airport. I am assuming people are losing their shyt for it because they watched the visual 1st... Which would strike people harder opposed to just playing the music without video.

And I've heard this story telling from women before, so I'm not wowed by the content. Beyonce's like 34 now, she can't make turn up music forever. She switched it up, good for her.

The amount of clitriding I've seen surrounding this album/film these last couple days It's a great album and the visuals are dope as well but I fail to see what's so massively impressive and transcendently revolutionary about any of this. I think the only people who were truly dazzled by this are those who casually listen to whatever's popular and aren't used to realness in their headphones
