This album is very well done, Beyonce took a risk here musically and enlisted some of the best writers (Ezra Koenig, Father John Misty, Abel, Dream, Kevin Cossom, James Blake, Jack White) and musicians in music to help craft the material. The final product is something special.
The last Beyonce album I thoroughly enjoyed by Beyonce was B Day but most of her other songs since seem empty and repetitive and like she made them specifically for her fan base every time around. This one is different though, she's incorporated different elements of jazz, country, r&b, soul, rock, indie pop, hip hop and it sounds cool, not corny. Beyonce is a talented artist but she's always made formulaic songs for "independent women" but her artistry was really displayed on this album musically. Hell, she sampled Led Zeppelin, Outkast and Animal Collective on this
I gotta give B props for at least TRYING something different than she normally serves up. Still early but if we ever say Beyonce has a classic album, this will be it.
