derrick rose injuries gave jimmy the perfect opportunity to elevate his game. especially on the offensive end. and to his credit he made the most of it.

shump had a few injuries along the way that stunted his growth. plus he never played in a system that allowed him to grow offensively.

Butler is good but Shump is better now and in the future.

I like Butler but he is in a pretty nice situation with the Thibodeau system and what they ask of him offensively.

Shump and Chandler are the only defenders on that Knick squad and he is one of the better perimeter defenders in the league. I think he could swing games for a minute or two at a time while Butler would still depend on playmakers a bit more. He's not getting many if any plays ran for him so offensively, I'm still unsure on the player he is.

shump will develop into a nicer offensive player

Butler can ball with good D, but Shump got a brighter future barring injury as he develops his offensive game. He showcased that tonight vs Celtics

Shump surprisingly has the better J & set shot

Butler has better Defense especially in the post and finishing moves at the basket.

Shump got more hops though, rips you clean on the perimeter
