When X said he was gon shoot the crown off jay head. X just sold 5 million. So that’s not a reason at all

98 was the only year Nas didn’t have a project but even then he made a movie.

Nope. Lyric was "only gave you the crown so I could shoot it off your head," saying that's what he did with And Then There Was X which dropped the week before Vol. 3 and sold significantly more :jawalrus:

Firm and QB don't quite count because let's be real those were more like compilations albums where he wasn't on every song. Jay is all OVER the Dynasty album, that's his album with special guests. Again this is the Columbia mismanagement, those shoulda been Nas albums with special guests.

My point is he wasn’t invisible any year from 96-2003

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
So vol 2 was that good. That X double album drop, Nas & Mase had to fight for runner up
Jay had the HKL single. He was buzzin but X was right there. Them nikkas was 1a and 1b at that point. Nas ain’t drop a solo album in 2 years up until that point so I don’t know where u getting at with that. What the fukk is ur argument. Jay was never the only nikka making noise. He was the most consistent. Consistency was Jay’s strength. Let’s not forget also. Biggie died. Jay was campaigning for the slot to replace Biggie like no one else.

All 3 were consistent up until about 00. DMX hung wit Jay but Nas dropped the worst album between the 3 of em at the end of 99. On top of that Nas was fighting a different monster with his career after Illmatic. Plus Nas wasn’t making certain moves that Jay was at the time either. Again. Jay was campaigning for a slot that Nas wasn’t. Nas outsold Jay in 99. But it doesn’t even get spoken about. X outsold both.

U proving my point lol

Thank u

Nah, you just ignoring the timeline and distorting the facts again :mjlol: Nobody is disputing Jay was at or near the top continually from 1998-2003. But you acting like it was undisputed which is :duck:

The line is specifically referring to their album timeline

Vol. 1 - 1x platinum
IDAHIH - 4x platinum
Vol. 2 - 5x platinum
FOMF - 3x platinum
And Then There Was X - 5x platinum
Vol. 3 - 3x platinum
Dynasty - 2x platinum

X saying the crown was on loan between Vol. 2 and ATTWX but his last shyt sold what Jay's last two did combined

Or there's your version where X was groveling or some shyt

Jay definitely put out more singles though.

Nas 96-03: If I Ruled the World, Street Dreams, Street Dreams Remix, Firm Biz, Phone Tap, Nas Is Like, Hate Me Now, Nastradamus, You Owe Me, Bridge 2001, Oochie Wally, Got Urself A..., One Mic, Made You Look, I Can (and Quick to Back Down if you wanna count it).

Jay 96-03: Dead Presidents, Ain't No, Can't Knock the Hustle, Feelin' It, Who You Wit, Sunshine, The City is Mine, It's Alright, Can I Get A, Hard Knock Life, Money Cash, Jigga What, Jigga My, Girls Best Friend, Do It Again, Things That U Do, Anything, Big Pimpin, Give It To Me, Change the Game, Guilty Until Proven Innocent, Izzo, Girls, Girls, Girls, Song Cry, 03 Bonnie and Clyde, Excuse Me Miss, Excuse Me Miss Remix, Change Clothes, Dirt Off Your Shoulder, 99 Problems, Numb/Encore...

Jay was smart to keep putting singles out - although if you look at that list not every song was huge.

In 99. Nas sold more records. Vol 3 sold more overall. Which is why I stick it to 99. Regardless. We are having like 3 arguments in 1. And I don’t see what Nas has to do with any of this. Or what any of this has to do with certain people preferring IDAHIH over RD. I just brought this up to a certified Jay stan I know and he even said he understands people saying they prefer IDAHIH.

This is exactly what I was saying when I said Jay was making certain moves that Nas wasn’t and he was also campaigning to be Biggie’s BK replacement. The nikka stays removing context to win an argument.

Just him saying shooting a crown off. Everyone thought jay. The blueprint wasn’t even out yet. So why do X need to shoot the crown off anyone if he sold 5 million?
