Still, Christian Bale is the star of that movie. Don't act like Aaron Paul is leading that movie. People have the right to be skeptical of his acting career projectory.

He's going to end up being like Michael Imperioli (Christopher from "The Sopranos"). Dude has had no luck with any tv projects since the Sopranos but he still gets work. He's had atleast 2 TV shows get canceled in their first year and gets mostly minor roles in movies. I was surprised to see him take that role as the limo driver in that Halle Barry movie "The Call" last year but its a check:yeshrug:. I see Paul's career going the same way. I think comedy is the way to go for him though...

You cats are all over the place.

Coli: His career is over after "Need 4 Speed".

Me: Nah, he actually has 5 movies, including the Ridley Scott one.

Coli: He only has a small supporting part.

Me: Nah, actually he's the second most important person in the story.

Coli: Stop acting like he's the star.

:heh:

Do you cats read the shyt before you type it out or what? Where the fukk did I say he's the star? The thread went from saying "his career is over" to "he's not the star of a Ridley Scott movie".

:camby:

And for the record I have zero interest in "Need 4 Speed" or "Exodus"....or hell, if I'm being honest any of the movies he's in....but holy shyt some of you seem eager for this guy to fail. I get that Jesse Pinkman isn't well liked but this is the actor, not Pinkman.

I agree. I can see the Michael Imperioli comparison.

You get mad sensitive whenever anyone criticizes BB or an actor from the show. :russ: I never said his career was dead. But i did say I agreed he won't be a star. Is that enough to get worked up over?:yeshrug:

We're talking about two different things breh.

First off, of course he'll always be Jesse Pinkman. It is what it is. If that's the height of his career, then :manny: most actors would kill to be associated with something like "Breaking Bad". These actors ain't dumb, all of them have acknowledged "BB" is pretty much it for them. Regardless of whether or not it's true.

I'm talking about cats writing him off like :heh: "Need 4 Speed his career his over". That's not even the biggest movie he's in this year. Now, if all 5 of his movies flop, that's a different story.

Fred.

I understand. I should have clarified. I don't disagree with this at all.

Moving the goal post all over the fukking place breh.

Let's say all 5 movies flop, and "BB" is the height of Aaron Paul's career. Ok.....as if the cast of "The Wire" went on to greatness afterwards. As if the cast of "The Sopranos" bounced back with more classic material. I don't see anybody in the "Justified" thread talking about :heh: "that fakkit Wood Harris went from being on the GOAT to being a random goon". But Aaron Paul is in a Ridley Scott movie and people are talking about "he ain't the star though!" :what:

If you're lucky you get one great role. That's it. If you're lucky.

Bad idea. Most people hate that character and wanted him dead. It was a troll to the fans not to kill him off.

Jesse was the most complex and interesting character outside of Walt on the show...I argue that Jesse was really the moral backbone of the show...one of my favorite tv characters of time to be honest

:russ: at moral backbone.

He wasn't complex or had any sense of morals.

He was selling meth at NA meetings. If by complex you mean a whiny self-centered scumbag that cries a lot.

I could see Aaron Paul nailing a role of a similarly stressed, down-and-out type dude in some indie flick with a good script. Honestly, just being part of Breaking Bad is such a stimulus pack for everyone involved I dont see why he would be any worse off than any random decent TV actor

Aaron Paul's performance on that show might be the most overrated of any character on TV ever, and I'm not one for hyperbole. When he wasn't excelling at being a dumbass, he was crying or overacting. He won an Emmy on the strength of the show he was on, not his performance. That said, he should be be trying to parlay his popularity into unique roles, not further trapping himself into the role of Jesse Pinkman.

i noticed back when i was watching season 1 when it had first premiered that i had seen the dude that played jesse pinkman before in some different shows/movies but he never really stood out to me. i thought he did a good job of playing jesse tho. people are talking about all he did was cry or yell but you gotta think that he's playing a meth addict/taking into account of all the things that happened to him over the course of the series. after watching the final episode yesterday i can now say it wasn't as good as the wire but i wasn't expecting anything to top it because it's going to be next to impossible. i wouldn't be against putting it in my top 5 and i'll def check out this prequel cause i always thought saul's character was hilarious.
