Just like with Jeff Hardy, it's hard to say someone is the best when there are frequent discussions about wasted potential and underachieving so I'm going with Punk. :yeshrug:

Personality/gimmicks: Hall >> Punk
I think Punk will kinda end up the KENTA of the gimmick/character game, honestly. He went through a bunch of implementations, from the loud-mouth young gun to the 'straight-edge means I'm better than you' to the cult leader to the 'voice of the voiceless' on to the 'blindingly narcissistic Best in the World' thing... dude had so many different gimmicks like that and they've all, in some way or another, been picked up and used by other people in the time sense. Seth is basically doing his messianic cult leader Nexus-era shyt right now, even while Brandi over on AEW was doing the SES thing down to the head-shaving.

I make the KENTA comparison because dude innovated all this shyt and then had pieces of his moveset plucked away and re-purposed, and people don't even get that some of their favorites are copying dude, and end up not giving him his due.

I also make the KENTA comparison because... ya know. GTS.

That being said, Hall made being the 'bad guy' cool in wrestling, and that has, for better or worse, utterly changed the way North American wrestling's trajectory has gone since. And without that, CM Punk doesn't get as far as he did. Plus, for a lot of us, that 'Hey yo' with the toothpick was our first real role model in that swag shyt.

Either way, I'm abstaining from this vote, but I'm enjoying the fukkery.

I can agree with that. Thing is, none of those things are particularly dope to me. :ld:

Raven did the cult thing better imo, 10 years before Punk.

Punk was definitely one of the better characters of his (WOAT) era, I'll give him that.

Hall.... cm punk has a woat manuver in the history of wrestling. I've seen better elbow drops from kids jumping off the arm of a couch. The desecration of macho man's legacy is enough for punk to not even be included in this tournament.

Meanwhile scott hall was swagged out. Legendary promos, legendary moves, legendary matches. Played his character so well there are people who still believe he is Hispanic to this day.

The fact that he is the personification of wasted potential and is still leagues above punk says alot.. 1st round match should've been Jeff Hardy vs Scott Hall lol

Razor. He has one of the illest chokeslams. Plus his finisher was never stolen from NJPW.

CM Punk is dope but not better than Hall.

Well... Technically the GTS(G2S) was stolen from NOAH. Which was like... Japan's ROH. Which kinda makes all the sense in the world, if you think about it :ohhh:
