This is the first official thread for a series I'll call 'Best Rapper Alive'. Basically, in this thread (http://www.thecoli.com/threads/revi...list-how-can-we-make-it-more-accurate.465427/), I discussed Complex's article that covered this very issue.

I thought we'd do a Coli spin on things and vote for who we believe to be the rap MVP of each year. I will be going from 1985-2015 but the threads won't be made in ascending or descending order. Just random.

Basically, I will be listing contenders as poll options for MVP of any given year and y'all get one vote to vote for your MVP.

POINT SYSTEM
I will only reward the top 5 finishers of each poll.

1st place = 10 points
2nd place = 5 points
3rd place = 3 points
4th place = 2 points
5th place = 1 point

The reason the remaining 4 places matter is because when all is said and done, I'll be tallying up points to see who finishes in the top 10 ever. This is done to reward consistent top 5 placers in multiple years even if they never won the MVP for one given year.

CONTENDER PRE-REQUISITES
There's only one real pre-requisite. You must have a project released in that year (whether an album, mixtape, EP or similar). This matters more to me than it does to you guys since I'm making the poll options, but just so y'all know this is the angle I'm coming from. Snoop Dogg cannot be in contention for 1995 for example.

As for groups and duos, if there's a standout member I will put them for contention if I deem them worthy enough e.g. Andre 3000 for 1998 or Ice Cube for 1988.

As for number of contenders per thread, it will depend on the year. A year like 1994 will likely have 10-15 contenders (max poll option is 15), but for 1985 it could be 5-6 only.

If your desired contender for any year is not one of the poll options and you plan to vote for that person, please make it known in the thread so I can add a poll option. DO NOT complain about an artist missing if you don't have intentions to vote for him/her.

The list is merely preliminary and if you want to vote for someone not listed - just reply to the thread and ask. The list isn't exhaustive and meant to represent every rapper who had a great year any given year. The list is meant to be interactive. I have left spots open for people to be nominated.

-----------------------------------------------

Brethren...welcome to 2011!

I thought I'd also make a new hashtag for y'all to follow, so you can keep up to date with every thread release. Let's go with #BRAColi.

Here are the results thus far (10/5/3/2/1 point system). If you see a name/name, it means they received equal amount of votes and are registered in the same rank spot.

First of all.. I'm mad as hell you didn't @ me in any of these best of threads breh

second.. I love your 09 MVP.... Rae was outstanding that year OB4L 2 stays in rotation.. That Gucci placement is crucial as well. He was a monster that in 08 leading into 09

Third.. Love the MF Doom placement in 04 but where is Game? He better pop up in 05

Fourth? Where is Wale in 2015? The Album About Nothing is arguably just as good as Kendrick and Lupe's jawns... Where is Game? The Doc 2 was crazy

Fifth... I love Gibbs getting MVP in 2014. Piñata is a modern classic

keep up the good work fam:myman:

Thanks a lot brother. Appreciate it.
:win:

Remember it ain't me deciding on these winners and top 5 placers. People are voting so it is what it is.

Sometimes a rapper deserving a mention might not get one because I try and make the initial poll list 10 people (so some left off) and leave 5 spots open to the occasional request.

But nobody who gets votes is ever left out, and that's the most important thing.

I'll tag you from now on brother. If this is your first time, read the OP carefully so you know how it all works.

He had beats on there by Kanye and was mostly produced by Just Blaze. Plus he had a Jay feature. If you combine that with the buzz he had from Entourage he coulda been huge
It's just depressing when you think about it :mjcry:
And the album was as good as we were expecting :mjcry:

It's like this desparate delusional dikksucking stans of these infinitely inferior to the GOAT Hov ass, lyrically remedial, flow challenged, brick factory dropping, sorry ass excuses for struggle rapper InspectHisdikk just sits around in his semen stained granny draws and smeared lipstick from all the wack MC's he deepthroats coming up with new ways to go full retard in the pursuit of downplaying the GOATNESS of the GOAT our Flow Lord and Lyrical Savior Hova Da Gawd

Of all the remedial fukk boy fakkit scenarios he could come up to deny the GOAT our Flow Lord and Lyrical Savior Hova Da Gawd's zillionth MVP inna row he decides to use a year where the GOAT dropped his 6th classic & the GOAT collab album WTT while also performing one of the GOAT rap miracles by dragging the ghostwriter ink & spiritual beatmakers blood stained corpse of Kangay Zest aka Prostate Monche aka Sticky Anal-Fingaz aka Bruce Bruce Jenner aka Tranye aka Kimye Kartrashian aka Koonye aka Zzzeeus Christ aka Yawnye Zzzest to a classic album despite his epic WOATness

Breh just compared Rocky and Drske to handicapped athletes :bryan:
And that's no knock on Kendrick cuz I think he's a great artist, but some of these 15 year old lil nikkas first time hearing a concept album was GKMC :bryan:

Even the notorious "ringtone rap" era of 2004-2008 had way more worthy top tier competition and pumped out way more classic material than the 2010s roster.
