Yo Styles P was also dope that year

How do we feel about Andre though? Cause this was that year where they dropped the Idlewild album which wasnt very good but EVERYONE sweated those features that Dre was on so much that he was put on the hottest list for that year cause of like Walk it Out remix and Lloyd's You and Mighty O. I fukks with 3 Stacks but I always felt people were hyping him cause they felt like it was a return to Dre rapping full time on a album and was never sure about if he deserved that accolade

Also Sai and Papoose and Terminology..they didnt drop albums but Mixtapes per say and got a lot of attention that year.

We talkin food n liquor lupe right?

Yes. Ghost was nice in 06 n dropped a great album but lupe was lyricism reborn back then. Noone was touching him.

The always thought that food and liquor and game theory were equally good but Lupe were able to adapt to the youth so his time back then was solidified

I mean if you look at it from the perspective of "they're one of the best to ever do it and they still got it", I can see what you mean

but I like to focus in on the year itself more, and use it as a vacuum away from previous progress, and so I feel TI, Ghostface, Lupe etc. are more deserving in that calendar year based on album quality or genuine MVP appeal in a popular sense

To the point though thats the grade to judge Cube on for that year too. That was an interesting year cause a lot of OGs put out some good music even if it wasnt their best and you still had this dynamic of wack ringtone/snap music which probably made that OG music more appreciated. It was really weird year like that.

Lowkey I remember many people rating that Method Man album that came out that summer too. But I need to hear that more

Im personally saying they deserve to be in the mix but I would defeintly go with that trio of Lupe/TI/Ghost as the best and then depending on how you feel about Jeezy, Jim Jones and those guys for club songs.
