I never heard their second album...but I heard the first and third...and wasn't that impressed with either Run or D on the mic :yeshrug:
Their 80s run was before my time though. I remember building with an old head in like 2001 and he was shytting on them something viscous talking about they were simplistic and wack even for the time period.

They were next Gen ol school way of thought guys who segue way into the new school way of thought as the highest drawing artist.
Plus, since rush management would use their draw to basically re-usher in sellout practices. that still cripple rap to this very day.
Including the MCA model.
which will eventually cause the complete destruction of hip hop all together.
So those words and critiques have actual credence.
As well as the critique of how incredible run is as a emcee as well.

Also, LL is better than run and that is just off semantics..as simple as LL is an actual solo artist.
Plus the fact LL has a higher skill set in every facet.
That dwarfs run's skill set.
or any avenue run went into re-invent itself as well as double time.
As, ll arguably behind twista and tied with busta are the most skilled at wholeheartedly.

As those three are the most skilled and truml any and everyone in double time in clarity as well.
Plus LL dwarfs everyone in vocal quality and vocal tonality in double time.
Plus, in the history of rap.
He has the best flow, and intangibles only rivaled and bested wholeheartedly by rakim.
Where rakim does everything that LL does that much better, but LL is the most skilled overall artist in the history of rap.
Whereas rakim is the best emcee in the history of rap.
Plus, in this comparison, LL only falters on illness to the important breaks but that may be more tampering and defjam shackling him because he is their flagship artist and had to set a certain mainstream accessible precedent.
That are hampered by the same semantics that created the MCA way as well.

Which also includes being kept from showing his conscious side..down to barring him from appearing on self destruction.
Although, LL was a fixture on the video set to self destruction just like he was to crush groove as a teen.

fukk what u heard - this was the best song of that year

That could be semantics because supposedly, I need a beat was re-printd and the real date of when the long version of I need a beat.
originally was released is one of the mysteries of rap history, and hip hop lore.
As a factually established real time date much like the vjnyl availability.
or, the real first appearance or release date of south bx and bridge is over on white label.

That old head was lying to you...problem for them was, as it is for any rap act who reaches the top, you are perceived by many to be too commercial, or "simplistic" as he put it. And Run-DMC was basically the first international superstars in rap. Now would I put Run up there with the Mt. Rushmore heads of MC's(Rakim, Nas, Jay, Kane, BIG, etc)? No, but I always thought dude was type nice on the mic. DMC was average, but he did have a commanding voice.

semantics :yeshrug:

i guess, we can debate on the best song of that year

but, its no question 'king of rock' being the most important song ever this was the song that introduced hip hop as a whole including the entire culture to the world

It's easily LL but I am going to vote for schooly d because somebody has to take some points for other places of top 5 :russ: and he belongs to top 5 off the strength of PSK :ehh: as it influenced the hit songs like 6 in the morning and boyz n the hood
