I liked Hurt Locker but I keep hearing from people who actually served in Iraq that it’s complete Hollywood bullshyt that’s not accurate at all

Moonlight is one of the best films of the decade and I've watched it several times.

12 Years a Slave is a great work although not one i like to revist just due to how much of a tough watch it is.

Birdman is very good too.

The rest is whatever.

Green Book and King Speech in particular will be looked at by future generations like wtf is that :gucci: on some Ordinary People in 1980 shyt.

They’re all dope for the most part. Some of them are really really dope, like moonlight and birdman. But Argo is the only one I frequently watch.
But if we pulled out the list of the 90s, pretty sure we could have the same conversation. There will be a few on the list I’d want to watch again, like unforgiven and silence of the lambs, but that’s about it.

Dances with Wolves was good but Goodfellas is the true classic. There's going to be examples like that... but people trying to make it like they gave Meet the Spartans an Oscar or something lol

These are all dope movies

Yeah that’s just how the cookie crumbles. There are a lot of movies I love but I don’t watch a lot because I just can’t sit through them. And that’s more on me than the movie. They awarded dope flicks for the most part. Green book is an outlier and kings speech is good but it’s not social network good

Agree. There's a difference too between being an outstanding piece of work and being rewatchable. They can be one in the same but not always.

Requiem for a Dream is like that for me. Dope movie but not something I just want to throw on any time.

i still enjoy the "sport" of it all following the race

Yup.

I've revisited several of these, though. Will never with several though. Only dislike one of them though.

  • 2019 - "Green Book"
  • 2018 - "The Shape of Water"
  • 2017 - "Moonlight"
  • 2016 - "Spotlight"
  • 2015 - "Birdman"
  • 2014 - "12 Years a Slave"
  • 2013 - "Argo"
  • 2012 - "The Artist"
  • 2011 - "The King's Speech"
  • 2010 - "The Hurt Locker"
  • 2009 - "Slumdog Millionaire"
Answer me this... are you sitting down and re-watching any of these movies? I can't picture myself ever revisiting any of these. The only one here that I might think about watching is Slumdog surprisingly, and i don't think 09 should count, but i included it anyway.
Just those films.

I think Birdman is the most rewatchable on that list.

I'd easily go see all those movies again except for Birdman and Argo which were trash, but that doesn't mean any of them are worthy of being called the best picture. The Academy is gonna academy, but it's not like it matters because when Once Upon A Time In Hollywood wins this year you're all going to suck the Academy's collective dikk again for 'getting it right'. :hubie:

  • 2019 - "Green Book" didn't see yet
  • 2018 - "The Shape of Water" didn't ''get it'' so will most likely not rewatch
  • 2017 - "Moonlight" on the fence about watching
  • 2016 - "Spotlight" already watched more than once, probably my fav on this list
  • 2015 - "Birdman" liked it, would possibly rewatch, Norton fan
  • 2014 - "12 Years a Slave", didn't see
  • 2013 - "Argo" didn't see
  • 2012 - "The Artist" didn't see
  • 2011 - "The King's Speech" didn't see
  • 2010 - "The Hurt Locker" didn't see
  • 2009 - "Slumdog Millionaire" didn't see
Thing with these movies is, they pretty much reward what stands out to them, assuming the ''system'' is not rigged

People getting in their feelings about their favorite not winning is difficult to understand after a certain age, La La Land might be my favorite of the decade and can't really see Moonlight being better but since I'm not personally invested in these things...
