Best Performance playing a drunk?

I really don't understand how Denzel is winning this poll; He is one of my favorite actors of all time, but that movie was a PBS special, bland ass flick. There are so many more films with much more haunting portrayals of alcoholism at the center.

i think it's because it's one the best "relate-able" drunk performances we've seen.

it's hard to argue against Nicholas cage's leaving las vegas as the best drunk acting performances it great but i don't think most people know someone who's willing to blow there life savings to drink themselves to death.

at least for me i can relate to Denzel's performance. a good man, functional alcoholic, has a moment of clarity declares " he's done drinking" but despite his efforts, goes back to to alcohol...

Ok, I can respect that, but I just thought that movie was a wasted opportunity. It was just not good imo.

yea i'm not going to argue that it's a great movie cause it's not but sometimes personal experience/ where you are with your life will trump great acting great acting performance.

don't ask me what's better the original ninja turtles or the godfather

Paul Newman in The Verdict is easily one of the best drunk/alcoholic performances...
