I guess my question would be whats the difference between a tv and a monitor.

Would i be able to watch fios tv on gaming monitor like Alienware or would i need a tv to do that? Could i do the same thing with a monitor like i would be able to do with a tv or more/less? Would the screen resolution be an issue on a monitor watching regular tv?

The main difference between a monitor and TV is basically response time. Television will always have a weird lag going on thus why they did the whole "soap opera" effect to create a illusion that you are getting better framerate, but the movies and shows end up looking weird as hell.

Monitors are just that...monitors.

Yet the strengths outweigh the the fact that its not going to have the same bells and whistles as a smart TV (sound quality, more picture options, etc). Its like this...if you want a entertainment type of experience with gaming on the side go television.

But if you are hardbody gaming with a twang of sports and movie watching...I would go monitor. Also imo, I wouldn't go too hard with the budget monitor wise. If you are just using a PS5 and watching television, just roll with the LG that was shown in this thread.

I'm mainly a PC gamer so the monitor benefits me :hubie: . Sounds like you need to get a legit television imo.

I really wish they would make huge affordable (like 60-70" monitors). I just cannot game at a desk

Sadly the only way that's going to happen is the wide screen jawns :francis: . Monitors are kinda made for immersion in mind. Thus why most gaming monitors either curved or the max is like 40ish screen size.

Broke Boyz need not apply :camby:

The end all be all monitor if you got a card that can do 60 + fps for native 4k (3080 and above). You can't even put into words how this shyt looks. Every game looks like a 4k native blueray movie. The dimming zones on the mini LED's are :noah:

Going to run you 1200 to 1500 though, and it's rarely in stock. Price has actually gone UP in the last two years.

Warning it does have the g sync ultimate module in it, which means the monitor has a fan in it, and if you put it in a really hot room or a room with poor air flow, the fan will rev up and if it stays revved to long it will make clicking noise ever 20 to 40 seconds. So if you a broke boy living in a tiny oven this aint for you.

Optimum Tech dude no sells almost everything and even he had to  at this monitor.

One of the few monitors where HDR isn't just a gimmick.

To watch Fios TV on a gaming monitor like an Alienware, you would need to use a streaming device connected to the monitor, as most gaming monitors lack a built-in TV tuner, meaning you can't directly receive cable TV signals; essentially, you would need to access Fios TV through the Fios app on a streaming device plugged into your monitor.

Yes, using a regular TV as a monitor can potentially cause issues with screen resolution so you better off use a TV.

This would help you to understand more about what's better for gaming TV or monitors. your preference is depending on what your preference is
