i saw Bridesmaids bc people didn't shut the fukk up about it. Sisters looks god awful and I'm fans of both of their TV work. Baby Mama was fukkin terrible though.

They can't all be home runs breh which is the point I make about comedians period. Sometimes they get good shyt sometimes they get bad shyt. Chris Rock is an example of that. As is Bill Murray Chevy chase Steve Martin Martin Lawrence and Eddie. It happens. And sisters wasn't God awful at all. I'd also add spy to that list of a very funny movie that's better than how it looks but I saw based on the idea of this woman being a spy and rose Byrne being able to be evil

I agree with @MartyMcFly

Comedy is so subjective, but I'd say that right now there are at least an equal amount of legitimately funny women as there are men (on the acting side, on the stand-up side it's a totally different animal).

Tina Fey
Amy Poehler
Kate McKinnon
Melissa McCarthy
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Kristen Schaal
Kathryn Hahn
Kristen Wiig

All of them are legitimately funny people who can deliver (at times) various stylings of comedy and comic delivery.

From that list alone if you picked a Starting 5 and put them up against 5 male comic actors you'd be hard pressed to beat 'em*.

*Currently working, not "Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop" type shyt.

All-time all-around, GOAT is Luccelle Ball.

But the hardest working comediane of all time is Kathy Griffin.
Whether or not you think she is funny, she has 20 full length comedy albums, Thats more than any comedian I am aware of male or female by a large margin. It dwarfs most people's catalogue.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus gets alot of credit that should go to Larry David... but Tina Fey & Amy Polner do deserve that mention.
Tina Fey is one of the best tv writers (male or female) of my generation.

Kirsten Schaal was great in Flught of the Concords.

Improv, I'd say Paula Poundstone is very underrated.. but she retired after Home Movies.

Wendy Lieberman ripped off Steven Black's stichk... but later tweaked it, so her entire set revolves around an off timing that almost no comedian uses.
Its a great style, cause the punchline is always after where you expect each joke.
I wish more chicks would develop their own style instead of biting or using generic styles.

Anybody see The Comeback?

That chick that plays Phoebe on Friends is a great actress. I don't like Friends as a show and don't watch it, but The Comeback is a top notch show.
She hits the drama and comedy with extreme precesion. Great actress.

Her performances in The New Adventures and Old Christine, Veep, and the resulting Emmys she's received for both would beg to differ.

She's never been funnier than she is right now IMO

Yeah it's one thing to get funny stuff written for you but that doesn't always mean you're funny. Being able to take material from a variety of places and play different forms of comedy like she does, even physical comedy, and make it work is a true testament

Real talk.

New Christine is a 5/10 show at best, but with her in the lead it's at least a 7. I know most wouldn't, but I really liked that show and it's almost solely down to JLD.

And her Seinfeld, New Christine, and Veep characters were all different. She doesn't give the same performance in different shows.

She's a GOAT contender regardless of gender.

I only saw Seinfield (great, of course) & New Christine (which I didn't think was very good). What's Veep?
Is it worth watching?

Veep is on HBO and it's hilarious. The initial premise was she was the Vice President and always looking for her shine because clearly she's second banana
