Villeneuve is the only correct choice. Even a weird little film like Enemy which is probably his 'least best' possesses unique qualities that make it captivating to watch and digest.

I find Villeneuve's work to feel empty. They're well shot films and technically very impressive. But he's another Chris Nolan. A completely humourless director who's films have no heart or soul. It's cinema that screams at you to be taken seriously but doesn't actually say much.

PTA probably wins it for me.

Yorgos Lanthimos is up there as well.
