To think Riley wanted to draft Rose while he was still coaching. 
Rose wouldn't have lasted 2 seasons in a training camp with Riley still coaching. Many players feel Riley shortened their careers by pushing them too hard in camps. Thats why Kendall Gill refused to play for him back when Riley wanted him on the Heat. Part of why SHaq left. Sometimes i think Timmy could have given us a few more years if it wasn't the hard grinds of training camps with the Heat

He stepped down right before Rose was drafted
At the time it was still in the air wether he'd return or not. Many were speculating that he'd be right back on the bench coaching if Beasley had turned into the player everyone hoped he would. One of the main reason Riley stepped away from the bench was his constant beefing with Wade, tho. Wade doesnt like him as a coach but trusts him as GM
