The chocolate chunk is better than chocolate chip, and I like any kind of vanilla or butter cookie with the buttercream icing.
I hated the semi sweet one so I never tried the milk chocolate one. I honestly like their cakes more but the chocolate milkshake, pink donut, banofee pie cookie, and the chocolate covered strawberry cookie was all gas. Shïts way too heavy to eat on the regular though I prefer insomnia

2 sticks of butter (1 cup)
1 cup of white sugar
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (sometimes I add a little mexican cocoa for some extra flavor)
1 tsp of espresso powder
2 tablespoons of milk
1 1/2 cup of chocolate chips
(optional: 1 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts)

Preheat to 350°F
Cream the butter and sugars together
Stir in egg and vanilla
Mix in flour, baking soda, cocoa and milk
Stir in chocolate chips

Scoop by dough by like 1.5 tablespoon if you want big Levain style cookies (I use an ice cream scoop)
optional: roll the scooped dough in granulated sugar if you want them to look like that
(I like sugar in the raw, and sometimes use a little cardamom w the sugar too)

Place on parchment paper or a greased tray and bake for 11-15 mins.
Cool cookies for 5 minutes on the baking sheet, they'll finish cooking as they cool.
Also, during the cool time, I like to press a few more chocolate chips into the tops of the warm cookies (I didn't in that pic though).

For real the Trader Joe chocolate chip are the best chocolate chip cookies you have had?

For store bought cookies, they were WAY above average. Beats Otis, Chip's Ahoy, Pepperridge Farms, Tates, Whole Foods etc (which I think is their closest comp), all the grocery store cookies I can think of.

If we want to talk about the absolute best

If you're nice with the oven, I haven't made a better one than this.

I mix up the chocolates a bit, some dark and milk. (i've made it with the discs/feves, but chopped up chocolate bars are better, imo)

I love peanut butter cookies. Subway was the best. Second best was the peanut butter cookies in the DFAC in Kuwait and Iraq. Hard to find a good peanut butter cookie now.

Jack in the box had a white chocolate cranberry cookie they were testing in the 2000s. That thing fresh out the oven was :ohlawd:
