what's the best gaming purchase you've made without reading reviews?

for me it's Dragon's Dogma. I saw it for like 5 bucks in a used game store back in like 2015 and decided to pick it up. one of the best RPG's I've ever played

That's a REALLY good one. Especially because it came out when Capcom was in the doldrums besides SFIV.

For me I'd say the PS4 God of War. I never was REALLY into the series before hand but I was BLOWN AWAY by the new one. It became one of my favorite games probably ever.

I'd also put Red Dead Redemption 1 on there as well. I just trusted Rockstar and it became a top 5 game of all time for me.

Persona 5. Never heard of the series before I bought it

Bioshock and Final Fantasy 7. It was my first legitimate RPG in my formative years when I had just really started trying to branch out from fighters, shooters, and beat em ups. I remember being like at how epic in scale everything seemed.

It is nowhere near my favorite RPG but it made me willing to try everything.

Super Mario RPG.
Didn't know what an RPG was back then but I asked for it for Christmas because it was a Mario Bros game. I thought it would have been Basura like Mario is Missing off the cover (picked it out the JC Penny Catalogue) but ended up being one of my fave games of all time. Kickstarted my love for RPGs.

Never heard much about it, but it looked like something I'd like off the strength of Parappa. shyt went beyond what I thought it would be and outside of the first song they have you play, everything was flames. Copped the Psvita version but still got my OG Ps2 purchase. It's a fukkING, SHAME they never made another one and with Rap Frog or whatever shelved indefinitely, I don't think we'd see another worthy off beat rhythm game like this in a minute; hell it's been a damned hour already.
