Same. And the entire situation flipped for me. 2019 had Conway's worst 2 projects. Food 3 and What I Became were just more of the same super goon bars over less good production. I thought Conway was running out of steam. Benny that same year was elevating and killed it that same summer with Plugs I Met. I thought Benny was so much more interesting as an artist. It's cool, i don't know why but i prefer Conway's music more I'm definitely checking out this album though.
Fast forward 18 months to now, and it's flipped for me. King to a God still might be my favorite album of 2020, and the guy's opening up about mental health, and releasing songs about PTSD, alcoholism, infidelity, his stillborn child, cousin's suicide, police brutality, getting abused as a child, and all types of shyt. His three 2020 projects all sounded different, and King to a God was him really delivering on the most complete body of work yet.
At first I thought Benny was the one that would sound so much better on production outside of Daringer and Alchemist, but when I hear Benny over Hit-Boy, Harry Fraud and 808 Mafia---compared when I hear Conway over Hit-Boy, Bink, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Erick Sermon, 9th Wonder, Khrysis, AraabMuzik, and Cardiak, I actually think Conway is the one that I want to hear more of outside of Daringer and Alchemist.
I'm still all in for Plugs 2. But yeah. I agree.
