I don’t know that they “idolize” him per se but they seem to have a little bit of an artistic theme/direction that revolves around extremely controversial figures from the name (griselda) to the ‘hitler wears hermes’ series to the chris benoit hoodie merch...it’s not a new thing either...I remember the whole dipset taliban thing and juelz santana referring to himself as a “young mohammed atta” (9/11)...it’s just controversial marketing imo

Interesting thing, I looked on Spotify and it said Benny averages about 350k streams per month and Conway about 400k. (Didn’t even bother to look up WSG)
It said Dave East avg 1.3 mil per month.
I knew they weren’t that popular but yikes!

Griselda will probably never blow up on a mainstream level primarily for one reason, and it isn’t because only people in NY listen to them, or they’re only popular with internet nerds, it’s because WOMEN WILL NEVER LIKE THEM.
All popular rappers have large female fan bases. I love Griselda music as do many, but chicks aren’t trying to hear ex-cons in their late 30’s rap about murder and moving weight over sample loops with little percussion.
And that’s fine. bytches ruined hip-hop anyway.
