Benny has never changed his flow.

Not saying it's a bad thing. Just an observation
I been kind of critical on Benny these past couple years, but I disagree. I think he stepped his flow up a lot from Tana Talk 3 to now. It was dope on Tana 3, but very predictable. On Plugs 1, and especially on Burden of Proof, he started changing it up more. I don't think his flow is quite as diverse as Conway or Boldy, but I think he's adding a lot more pockets and cadences.

More buzz for Benny. Not feeling how shady is rolling out the new Conway. Hope he drops a single to get buzz like the new Benny got the industry buzzing.
No doubt. The Time Square billboard is gonna be dope, as is the likely Jay-Z feature, but I don't know how much this next single is gonna move people. It's a posse joint with Conway, Benny, West, and Daringer. It's a dope "classic Griselda" sounding joint, but I'd love to hear Conway drop with a higher profile artist leading up to this album. We're still over 3 weeks away, so the rollout hasn't really "started" just yet, but I'd definitely like it to feel bigger (pause). Even with a dope video, I don't feel like a song with the OG Griselda trio is bringing in any new fans.

Johnny P's Caddy sounds like a major label single to me. There are a lot of Cole fans this weekend that didn't listen to Griselda that are now tuned in to Benny. Conway needs a single like that. Tana Talk 4 isn't even dropping on a major label, but it feels like it could be a BIG album, if that makes any sense? It's frustrating, because GDMM is on some Scarface The Diary type shyt. It's a really fire album, and it's Conway at his best, but I already feel like it's not going to bring a lot of new fans to the table the way that it should.

The first singles off Benny and Conway's albums really tell the tale. Both use an Alchemist beat too yet they couldn't be more different. Johnny P's Caddy sounds like some shyt you could hear Ross or Drake on - it has that older/vintage vibe yet also sounds modern, plus a big feature. Whereas Piano Love has that Griselda sound, slower drums/vibe...and is literally a leftover from a previous project. Just a weird single choice.

Not saying Conway needs to get a Cardi feature on some trap shyt but you gotta try something. It can be some straight rap shyt too, like Benny here. Meek, Ross...something like that.

“Ninja want me on a song he gon see the wrath of the reaper” - :dwillhuh:

You can’t convince me Cole didn’t deliberately destroy Benny on his own song. Made Benny sound like a mumble rapper saying a whole bunch of nothin :sadcam:
Also that slick bar about how nikkas only rap about drugs and guns nikka dissed like 95% of griseldas catlogue.

we saw the difference between limited subject matter and not.

Cole started with a story then went to bars.
And nikkas trying to say benny would go toe to toe with nikkas in the 90s yeah he nice but put next to a nice MC who dont have to rely on drug bars and you see the difference.

IMO most the top rappers in the game would wash them, we seen jid wash conway on that joint they did together.

No doubt. And since nothing happened after Piano Love, I damn near don't even think of it as a single. Terrible choice for a first single. I like the song, but it's an album cut. I almost think of it as a deep cut that they just happened to throw out there. I'm also curious if the lack of a big reception to it made Shady momentarily put the brakes on releasing the album.

I'll be very curious what you think about the single they're dropping on Friday. This is really what I'm considering a single, because it has a video treatment and everything. It's got more energy to it than Piano Love, but if I were A&Ring it wouldn't be my pick for a pre-release single--I think it'd be a fun song to release after the album drops. It may be old fashioned, but I'm just real big on the idea of lead singles on major labels being songs that reach beyond your existing fanbase and your core audience. Ideally, I think they should bring new fans to the table.

For me, this Tana Talk 4 single really does a great job of that. And for Conway, I actually thought Scatter Brain off his last album did a great job of that. JID and Luda were dope features, and even though the production sounded a little generic to me, it sounded modern and it got him a live performance on Jimmy Fallon. Scatter Brain IMO is a much better single choice than Piano Love or John Woo Flick (the title of the new Conway single dropping Friday).

Benny already did songs with nikkas from the 90's though.... Styles, Kiss, Royce , Ghostface, Wayne, Busta etc... and he never got washed, same with Con.

You dragging it.

This single is what puts Benny on another tier as an artist than Conway. He just has that IT factor that I been talking about forever when it comes to his projects & his status as a top tier MC :hubie:
