burrow was the pick. And if we fail for predraft hype we would of picked Sewell…in fact more often than not if we just picked the player the majority has mocked to us we would of been better off.

burrow was no questions asked the number 1 pick and he’s also from Ohio. It wasn’t going to be Tua or Hebert

Word. Plus Miami was trying to trade up for Burrow. Burrow was that dude.

Nobody knows cause nobody gave a shyt about preseason then.... As we shouldn't now

Preseason is for rookies to learn and scrubs to try and make it. I'm a 49ers fan and I'm in that thread, trying to wake people the fukk up, that Trey is doing all this in preseason, and not any game that matters vs any team that actually cares about winning

I just won't have no Jerry Rice slander
It wasn’t slander, Jerry Rice himself will tell U he was fukkin up major his rookie season

Don't you dare

The San Francisco 49ers used their first round draft pick in 1985 on wide receiver Jerry Rice from little known Mississippi Valley State. It did not take long for that decision to pay huge dividends.

Rice gave a glimpse of what was to come when he averaged 18.9 yards per catch on 49 receptions for 927 yards and 3 TDs as a rookie. He also rushed six times and scored one touchdown on the ground.

In 1986, Rice recorded a season that began perhaps the finest stretch by any receiver in NFL history. That year, he caught 86 passes for a league-leading 1,570 yards. He also led the NFL in touchdown catches with 15. It marked the first of 11 straight 1,000-yard seasons for Rice who also recorded double-digit receiving touchdown totals in nine of the next 10 seasons.

Rice struggled with drops early. That's all the next man was alluding to.

Twenty-one years ago this week, Bill Walsh stood before the skeptical Bay Area media and defended a controversial decision. He told them that the 49ers' troubled rookie wide receiver would remain a starter despite several bad performances.

The rookie's name was Jerry Rice.

The 49ers, fresh off a victory in Super Bowl XIX, were 6-5 and fighting for their playoff lives. Joe Montana's passing numbers were off. Rice, the team's top draft pick, had 26 receptions in 11 games, but he also dropped 10 balls, some of them at the worst possible times. He was coming off a game in which he dropped two passes, fumbled once, and caught just one pass. Niners fans booed the rookie; local columnists made him the butt of jokes. Freddie Solomon, a respected veteran who caught touchdown passes in 10 straight games in 1984, had become the invisible man in the Niners offense while Montana and Rice played pitch 'n' drop.

But Walsh held his ground, supported Rice, and kept him in the weekly gameplan. "At some point, the boos will turn to cheers," predicted Walsh during a press conference on November 18th, 1985.

That point was only a few weeks away.

I understand that 2nd drop but the 1st was inexcusable and 3rd one he couldn’t get out his break clean

he gon be straight but hope this game was a wake up call it’s not bout to be sweet in the NFL
