But, if we're comparing BTH and College Dropout, it's going to be a tougher decision...

Finally, you can't call Below The Heavens solely a Blu album. Exile put in fukkin work on those beats

Graduation aged the worst out of kanyes first 3 but I'll still go with grad.

I remember liking below the heavens but can't remember much other than the first song.

Graduation had quite a few memorable songs

Beaches and Palm Trees
[Verse 1: Blu]
I got a call from my girl last week
She telling me about that time of the month and how it may not come
Dropped the phone right before she said I might have a son
And I started asking God how come
I got dreams I ain't reached yet – ends that ain't meet yet

When it comes to being a man, shyt I'm barely getting my feet wet
Trying to hit reset knee deep in debt
Trying to figure how to feed a mouth that ain't got teeth yet
How the hell am I gonna show a child to be a man
When I'm twenty-two without a clue on how to take a stand
Against this system when it's just us, wanna show him justice
But last year I was just in cuffs
What the fukk am I supposed to do when he's telling me 'Dad I need some food?'
I'm looking down at my stomach and mine is grumbling too
What can I tell him when he's twenty-two
And he's asking me what the fukk I was thinking when mommy's tummy grew? :mjcry:

Was I scared, was I getting prepared?
Or did I even think of leaving her without a father's care?
Should I tell him that it's hell here and life ain't fair?
Or should I try to make a change when he's pulling on my leg?
(Show me) and he keeps on telling me to

:mjcry:
Just reading the bold gave me the chills .

I bought Graduation (last album I physically or digitally purchased) but Below the Heavens was :ahh:

Blu is a prime example of how drugs can ruin such untapped potential :mjcry:

ummmm....because most people who rate illmatic as the GOAT album only like 2 or 3 tracks for real for real.
while there is only ONE bad song on BTH, and the rest were stone cold classic joints.

You gotta point though, it's obvious Blu was very influenced by Illmatic/Nas . You can't really shyt on one of these albums without shytting on the other

Graduation. I still play it from time to time. Hearing certain songs sum up a moment in time for me. 50 / Kanye battle. Glow in the Dark tour. Yeezy 1's. A change in the sound of hip hop

BTH is a great album though. I played it for the first time in a long time recently and it's still really good. Brilliant song writing, great production too but it hasn't aged as well as Graduation. The production on Graduation is just clearer, more detailed. A song like Good Life masterfully put together. It's a simple sample + drum beat but there's the synths, a strong 808, horns, strings, a dope bridge. Also the last album Kanye sounded "happy".

BTH is the only reason I might check a Blu project from time to time. Nearly everything has been poor since though. Took me a hot minute to realise Miguel from BTH was the same Miguel that's big now. I wonder if people actually bump BTH now.
