I know I'm :cape: but I do think sometimes we lump all slave movies together because of the way white Hollywood has used them to keep blacks in boxes and denegrate our real history. However, it should be noted that both 12 Years A Slave and Belle are movies that deal with slavery directed by Black directors based on true accounts written by black people from their point of view. That is something that we need more of....

I disagree. The slave rebellions, mixed with early abolitionist propaganda had a larger impact than a biracial rich girl marrying a white man. I'm not buying it. The slaves themselves caused such a massive uproar over their bondage that resistance broke mercantile capitalism, just like it did for the French...revolution is infectious and the blacks were the primary reason they were freed from slavery

And sadly, her two brothers were disgusted by her, but still wanted to rape her.

its not even about that. Its about that Hollywood propagandizes whites and biracial people so that blackness is diluted and removed from media or like Frantz Fanon said, blackness is removed so that in the minds of the masses, it is looked at as wrong or negative.
I agree..... Even tho this movie isnt hollywood

Well since her marriage actually made the British high courts reconsider their stance on slavery, this actually a very important person in terms of the abolition of slavery in Britain.
Doesnt make her black,

After all the abuse white people gave her she would still marry one of the, than a black person who, of which she could help uplift with her wealth

"Belle" isn't based on any true written account. It's based on a 1779 British painting"

"The film is inspired by the 1779 painting of Dido Elizabeth Belle" :dead:

"Very little is known about the life of Dido Belle, who was the illegitimate mixed-race daughter of Mansfield's nephew."

Where is the true account? :dead:

In other words, this movie is revisionism and white-washing bullshyt. My history is not about some confused biracial sob story in Britain. The British outlawed slavery after books like Uncle Tom's Cabin came out and sold out in record numbers across the country. So it was abolitionist's work that inspired the British to abolish slavery, not this re-imagined wench bullshyt. The British don't even have records on this shyt.

So your testament that the movie showcased how "racial purity is stupid" is just bullshyt not present in any historical record. It's just writer filler bullshyt. The British's adherrence to racial purity followed their imposition of a global Empire. So it seems like their ideals worked quite well. The writer should think about this fact before they write their own ideas into a story next time around. :laff:

This isnt just a story its a true story that happened
@thatdude13 @kp404
Nope, kp404's suspicions are supported in the evidence. Apparently the movie "was inspired by a 1779 painting", not anything that was written or recorded. In fact there is little to nothing known about this woman or her life:

"Very little is known about the life of Dido Belle, who was the illegitimate mixed-race daughter of Mansfield's nephew."

How can one make an accurate movie about a person with little to no information on which to base a movie on? This "movie" an exercise in imaginary bullshyt. In other words, @kp404 is right. This movie is historical revisionism and romanticism. Wench bullshyt.

Wow, another movie about a rich person who happens to be biracial...Hollywood continues to try and dilute black people from history and movies and this type of garbage really gets under my skin...they release the boring pretentious mess about one biracial person living with her white saviors and we still can't get financing for a Toussaint L'overture movie where the majority of the cast will be black, heroic, united, and fighting for freedom...I'm not supporting this mess

A L'overture movie would be the most godbody thing in the history of everything.
