There's a certain borough pride with Brooklyn that most people can't/won't understand. When the Brooklyn Cyclones started playing in Coney Island in 2001, and brought baseball back to Brooklyn, they became one of the hottest tickets in town. They had to re-do the cable lineup cause people wanted to see them on TV since tickets were hard to come by. They did well that year and were slated to play in the championship series against another single-A team from Pennsylvania or something. There was talk of a parade
if they won, but the Sept. 11 attacks changed all that.
I'm rocking with the Knicks, but I can't help but feel some kinda way seeing "BROOKLYN" on some t-shirt, some fitted cap, whatever. My pops told me how it was when the Dodgers was in town, and how nikkas was literally crying with joy when they won the World Series in 1955, and how they cried again, but with sadness, when they bolted for LA a couple years later.
I would suggest that if you haven't, watch the HBO documentary "Ghosts of Flatbush" (I think it's available on the torrents), it will help to understand the mindset of a Brooklyn nikka and how he feels about the borough.
