How's this for variation? Also, if I have the beat/melody with variation down, how can I start arranging this to become a song? Thanks a lot, bro. I hope I'm not bugging you with all these questions.

You have to ask questions to get ahead, dont worry about it. Are these stock sounds? If so try to load the flp to dropbox and or google cloud or some file share site and put it on here so I can download it and check it out...then i can save a modified version back to you and you can compare the projects. Worst case scenario if they arent stock sounds just replace the same beat with stock sounds and shoot me the file.

You have some options like when you drop the melody out at 00:10 and are switchin it up between 00:10 and 00:40 but for some reason around these points:

00:10 , 00:25, 00:45, 00:55,1:11, and 1:27 the drums are off. I cant identify why but if I see the project I can explain it and better yet, fix it and send it back to you so the drums change but dont have that gap or pause there.

I got it, I opened it I have FL10 producers edition, I downloaded the upgrade for 12 and I was able to play it. I dont have nexus and I saw you were using sounds that werent stock, it's all good though I just swapped out the sounds for stock ones that were pretty good. I might have time later today or definitely tomorrow (labor day).-- I went on a 50 mile bike ride then slept for a lil bit, had a 4 hour gig and am gonna pass out for a little longer. I was gonna get at you earlier but I was and still am dead tired.

No worries, bro. What are stock sounds, though?

Stock sounds are just the sounds that come with FL without any extra packs. i cant find that nexus instrument you used or the lex pack. i'll play with it more tomorrow.

Hey breh, I finally got to view in a way where I could see whats up.

So for the pattern bars at 5, 11, 19, 23, 29 and 25 there is a gap between the sequences which throws the drum beat off kilter.

same for the melody bars at 5, 13 23, 27 28 31

I highlighted a couple for you to see

Why that happened I cant explain, but how I fixed it was using the pencil tool and just choosing the corresponding pattern or melody and just clicking on the first bar so for instance bar 1 then bar 9 and everything was quantized and the timing was correct. Ive linked the file for you to download, once again I had to change the sounds to stock sounds which are basic sounds that come with FL so you will have them too, you can play with those or just click on each drum and change them back to the lex kit and see how they sound. Once I ironed out those wrinkles, the drums are on point, they loop and with the different sequences, ie pattern 1, 3 and 4 there are no gaps or skips so you are perfect there, i would assume the melody would be the same. You will need to listen then let me know, other than that you are on the right track breh.

Dropbox - teaser100.flp
Let me know whats good from there playa.

@The Eclipse

I dont know if this helps but since you are on the right track I wanted to post an example that might help you along and give you some pointers. I know you are trying to get into sampling and Im not certain how easy this is to do via FL but im certain there is a way, in fact I know you can export your song then sample it.

Anyway what I did was put down a piano melody I liked. Then I ended up resampling it, then pitch shifting it and it came out pretty good. I threw some silly drums over it because if I want to use it i'll just go back and add more. I also ended up chopping it up and made 2 sequences. They loop pretty well and my drums loop well also. The swing of the drums are off so in the second sequence they nearly get out of sync but its just practice making melodies or making drum patterns.

The drums start out dry then get punchy which is weird but im so tired I think I started eq'ing them then stopped so on my first sequence they are dry then on the second one the kick is punchy...annoying but it is what it is. Just try to have a little fun and explore and ultimately you'll make better beats with time.
