I don't know. Beethoven lived a charmed life, except for his mean azz dad. Rich white folks.
These are paintings of Beethoven through the years.

Beethoven is great as well as Mozart and Haydn
but before them and after them there have been great composers.
Jazz being it's own separate world has giants that can be held
in equal regard if you ask me.
I don't need "Beethoven" as some sort of proxy for the
ultimate manifestation of "Black" music nor do I see him as "Black" excellence.
Why ?
Because Duke Ellington existed.
I don't need "mozart","Haydn", "Rachmaninov", "Rovel","Debussy","Handel"
"Schoenberg" or any other Classical composers.
Because I've got Wayne Shorter, Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones,
Miles Davis, John Coltrane etc.
There are already Black Musical giants, I don't see the need to make "Beethoven" into
one.

*edit* When I say "I don't need", I'm just stating I don't need them
to be "Black", because Black Brilliance in music already has and will
continue to exist.

You are reading into this too much. Just acknowledging he was part African.

I have that J.A. Rogers book, but I'm skeptical of some of it's claims.............:patrice:

http://www.sjsu.edu/beethoven/research/faq_beethoven/

I place the evidence presented in my OP miles over a statement on the San Jose State University website.

There are paintings and statues of Ludwig von Beethoven. There might be a possibility of him being half black, but no way is he 100% black.

Paintings and statues? :russ:

fukking rookie. :heh:

I was expecting a picture not translations of a word and vague descriptions from hundreds of years ago. Look up the word inarguable breh. I guess the "big nose" and "ugly little man" was the selling point.

:mindblown: No, those were not the selling points.. and you know that.

i'm a grown man I don't dress up for a halloween, I buy and sell real estate for a living, so forgive me if I don't understand your analogy about wearing a dashiki to work, and this thread is about a serious discussion

this is french artist henry powell's portrait of Alexander Dumas, when we know but all accounts giving to his apperance he did not look like this

small_alexandre-dumas-william-henry-powell.jpg

but more along the lines of this

Victor+Cochinat.jpg

whitewashing of black history is a serious problem and one I do not take lightly

only an ignorant ass white person would think I would take kindly to jokes about psychology manipulation to subjugate my people

Not to mention, Dumas referred to blacks as his brothers, and identified as a descendant of Negroes.

:scust: @unit321 You're not funny.. we see straight through you.

The Center is the only institution in North America devoted solely to the life, works, and accomplishments of Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). Established in 1983 when Ira F. Brilliant donated his Beethoven collection to San José State University, the Center officially opened in September 1985 with a gala co-sponsored by the San Jose Symphony. Building on Ira Brilliant's original donation, the Center now has the largest collection of Beethoven materials outside of Europe.

As the only institution in North America dedicated to Beethoven and his music, the Beethoven Center strives to help researchers of all levels to connect to all available Beethoven resources. We created the Beethoven Gateway to help researchers locate books and articles on specific Beethoven topics and well as manuscripts, first editions, and other sources for the music.

I will trust those who wrote about Beethoven during that time, and first hand accounts.

Those are contained within the archives. Research from ALL available sources (1st hand, contemporary and later) indicates Beethoven wasn't 'Black', didn't identify as 'Black', and wasn't referred to as 'Black.

As far as your sources go, there are only 2 that would be considered 'first hand'. One of them was talking about Haydn, not Beethoven. NONE of the others wrote about Beethoven during his lifetime.

Y'all don't know how much the history books been contorted to conceal the truth. A lot of legends of history are in fact black. Alexander the great was black, jesus was black, even Confucius was a black.

black love, unity, and music
You don't even have a sense of humor.
You are the type of guy who will wear a dashiki on Halloween to work. Then, when people ask you what your costume is, you just give them a mad mug and tell them you aren't wearing a costume.
Instead of playing the fukking dozens, perhaps you could refute his logic with facts or a decent counter argument. If you feel the argument presented is so preposterous that it would be "beneath you" to address it seriously, perhaps you should just get the fukk on then. This great thread is being ruined with your nonsense.
