Been listening back to The Pharcyde’s first 2 albums the last couple of days, I can’t decide which album is better

If Labcabin had been trimmed just a little bit they’d both be in equal standing but Dilla always gave you more for your money

I think it depends on my mood; if I’m laid back and just want something to smooth to listen, it’s Labcabin but Bizarre has that more sunny day at the beach vibe to it
Lab is a night album and Bizarre is the day album
If that makes any sense lol

Yeah I like the second one better. The first was a bit too zany for my taste. It had some dope songs but overall I wasn't super feeling it.

I can totally understand all of this
I think it all comes down to what sound and “personality” of either album you like more of
Bizarre was more clowning around lyrically with heavy jazz samples and Labcabin a bit reserved and introspective/reflective with a more darker sound
One thing i will say, Moment In Time is one of the best written songs

As a huge Pharcyde fan this is a hard one for me. My favorite group is Parliament/Funkadelic so I have a higher tolerance for "zany" music than some. The shyt J-Swift was doing on Bizarre Ride with the drums is incredible. On the D.L., Soul Flower (Remix), Passin Me By, Otha Fish 
Such a shame he became a crackhead, the documentary about him is sad as fukk
I love Labcabincalifornia and it has some of my favorite songs of all time like Runnin but I never loved the end stretch of tracks to be honest. The Hustle through The E.N.D. are good but don't match the heights of the album, and it has some straight up mid like Groupie Therapy. I also prefer the She Said and Y? (It gotta be like that) Dilla remixes to the album versions.
I pick Bizarre Ride by a hair because I can find Dilla piff in a lot of places (like Fantastic Vol. 2 or Like Water for Chocolate) but Bizarre Ride is a singular showcase from a group at the height of their powers and a producer who could have been one of the greats if his demons didn't get the best of him.
