Becky Lynch has been by far the most successful, accomplished and popular wrestler in WWE since turning heel at SummerSlam last year.
Lynch capped off an impressive run with a victory in the very first women's main event at WrestleMania 35, where she defeated Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair to capture both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships.
Up next, Lynch will have to defend her two titles in separate matches at the May 19 Money in the Bank pay-per-view. The Irish Lass Kicker will defend the Raw Women's title against Lacey Evans, and the SmackDown one against Charlotte.
It's easy to believe that Lynch will drop at least one of the two titles, but that might not be the main story. On the Oh, You Didn't Know podcast (h/t Ringside News), Brad Shepard cited a source who suggested that Lynch's run as the star main eventer could come to an end soon.:
"According to a source in WWE they believe the company is ‘wearing the Becky Lynch thing out.’ They believe that two matches at Money In The Bank will be the first cracks in the Becky Lynch armor so to speak and they believe the crowd would pop if Lacey Evans won.
So it’s very interesting to get a perspective of somebody in WWE as to how they feel the Becky Lynch thing is continuing to play out."
This would obviously be quite the twist if Evans were to upset Lynch here, and if it were to start the beginning of the end for her reign. But is WWE truly prepared to hit the brakes on Lynch's historic and successful run to the top of the mountain? That much remains to be seen.
What This Means
WWE fans have had to go through enough lack of main event pushes for some of their favorite stars, including Kevin Owens, Bobby Roode, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe and Bayley, among others. It would not go over well if Lynch were to stop being pushed as a main eventer, so WWE needs to think this through wisely as the Money in the Bank pay-per-view gets closer.
