who said it was easy? it takes hard work. do you know why people choose hoop/rap over book work? its because they dont naturally LIKE books. but they naturally like playing a sport or rapping. its not about if they're good at it or not its about what they ENJOY doing. now if they're good at it. then even more so. they will choose ball or rapping over books cause its enjoyable more so than books and it comes easier to them. books you have to put in the time. sure you have to put in the time on the court(they dont know this either no matter how many times steph says it only 2 will hear that part.. the rest will runaway dreaming about being him without the hardwork. because all they see is the finished product. see its different looking at a person from a regular job. you see them as a finished product but you see them as people who studied/worked hard. because its not flashy like entertainment. that flash can make you see things that are not true or not see the entire picture.

you rarely get to see nba players at practice unless you're looking for th

i see you didnt read my other posts in this very thread smart guy. i've already addressed this.

mr smart guy. who cares if curry had OTHER obstacles.

he wont the lottery in almost every category necessary to become a succesful nba player.

The only thing curry lacked was superior athleticism. but guess what. he had his dad as a witness "son you dont need crazy hops or crazy speed, look at me. shooting the rock and making millions. " See i'm old enough to remember his pops. that story alone = one more lottery win. see its harder for the jordan kids to be nba stars because their dad was literally THEE most athletic player of all time or at least top 10 of all time. whats the odds anyone will end up being of those type of athletes? slim. pops curry was not ultra athletic. neither is steph. so it isnt farfetched to see "my pops made it gunning, so can i."

his pops was taller. but curry is still tall for the pg position. its not like curry is some 5'7 dude trying to make it with no help. curry went to a small school because they didnt believe he was all that since he wasnt super long or super athletic. but even without those things he still had the tutoring of a nba parent bringing his nba friends over to practice with his 6'3 kid. sorry. curry's bumps in the road really aint bumps when you think about it.

but even if they were. they wont help the kids out because the kids are to silly to put two and two together like you are I. we're grown now. we have the mental ability to pull that off. THEY DONT. thats the point of the teachers entire letter.
With bold you getting very Nas like and is it oochie Wally or is it one mike? It can't be Steph made because his dad wasn't as good but Jordan's kids couldn't make it because they had to live up to his standards. You moving the goalposts because the point was Jordan's kids had the same advantages that Curry had and didn't make it to the league. All that other stuff you kicking is a smokescreen period.

it's not a real dream if they arent even playing organized ball. a lot of kids have no clue what they really want to do but adults keep asking them to give answers. a lot of times these kids are just BS'ing.
i remember asking my nephew to write me an essay about what he wanted to be, dude was like 9/10....he told me he wanted to be a blacksmith on some middle earth shyt :russ:

i see you dont have reading comprehension skills. not only did you not understand what the letter was all about and you went on your own rant about it. you also did not understand what i posted.

so let me explain again. and leave your rants alone. pay attention before you get ready to hit reply. i have a funny feeling you're so eager to hit reply and get at people. that you are not actually letting what they have just said..marinate for a moment.

Dell Curry = Average athleticism, wicked Jumpshot, semi short for the SG Spot at 6'4(they use to lie sometimes and say he was 6'5.)

So dell did not win the genetic lottery when it comes to athleticism. at least not to the point where he's some obvious freak athlete like jordan/bron/kobe/vince/etc. and neither did his son.

So they are the same in that regard. He saw his pops make it into the nba without ridiculous athletic ability so he knew it was possible because his own DAD did it. his pops could literally tell him "Son...look. you're getting kind of tall. you're going to be between 6'2 and 6'5. I would tell you to work on your ball handling(which can be taught and doesnt have to be a god given genetic lottery win..this is where just hardwork can pay off). So Son work on your handle and get a jumper like ya daddy and you have a great chance to make it into the nba. I'll teach you all about professional FOOTWORK(which separates the men from the boys real quick, i'll teach you all of the old schooler tricks so you will know them at a very young age. This will give you an advantage over other guys your age that are more athletic/bigger/taller/longer than you are.

^^That is doable for Steph at 6'3

Now jordan: 6'6, super long, strong for his size. beyond athletic. we havent even talked about skill yet.

Lets talk his son Jeff Jordan..
Height 6-1 (dang son you are barely tall enough to play PG in the nba. so you better be quick as hell with serious athleticism and crazy handles, with a wicked shot).

Athleticism- average athlete. not for a nba player but average for a player who played in college. being 6'1 with average athleticism = nothing special and you will most likely be past up. unless you have the others above(wicked jumper, wicked handles, or great height for the position (steph is 6'3 playing point. thats a tall pg).

This is why Jeff would most likely not make it into the nba looking at his pops. because with all the hard work his pops put in. his pops was born 6'6, with insane athleticism and monster sized hands. Jeff jordan lost those 2 lotteries. and they are the main two you need to win.

Since he lost those two it would be best for him to have a shorter father, with less athleticism. so he could relate. this is the point. its about Relatability.

How many of these hood kids are going to be 6'3+? maybe 1 % of them
How many of these hood kids will have above average athleticism for even D-I schools? maybe 3%
How many of these hood kids will have a parent or a mentor for basketball that has done it and is approx their height with approx their same/similar athletic ability so they can see the real light at the end of the tunnel? maybe 0.5% chance.

Why play this game and gamble your life away on a dream when the reality is you can do well for yourself, still play ball or rap or whatever on the side. but do things that have a much much higher chance of paying off thats purely based on your hardwork and brain cells. things you can control.

you cant control your DNA(height, athleticism). you cant even control all the time where you are born, so that means you cant control all the time which schools you go to. so you end up at a no name school in a no name town. shoot, they will never know you. Me and my pops was talking about this the other day. sure the internet helps a lot with this. but even with that. there are too many kids to look at. so only the super DNA lucky kids thrown in with some kids putting up ridiculous numbers will shine thru. My pops use to hold records in track at his high school. did he ever get a call from these big colleges? NOPE. He ended up going the Navy route and held a record or two their two for track. did he ever get a call from any D-I schools or any olympics teams? NOPE.

why not? for one he was a no name person from a no name town in the south. i think from that same town /city maybe 5 guys in 50 years have gone pro at anything. you do the math. how many people do you think lived in that little city vs how many people made it.

what if my pops was stuck on a hoop dream or a track dream. imagine that one for a moment. he's still a man so he's going to get some chick pregos. what if that chick was moms. now what? now my pops is some idiot still holding on to a dream that most likely will never happen. but what about me as his kid what about my siblings. we need to be taken care of TODAY not tomorrow when or if you dream MAY hit. This is the short sighted mentality that a lot of people have. and thats what this letter is all about. now granted moms and pops broke up. but because he took that navy route and went that electrician route he made very good money for a black man in that era. so that meant he could slide some cash my way and my siblings way to hold us down. keep us from eating government cheese like my homeboys down the street. kept us from having to share pants like my homeboys from around the corner.

no one said give up the dream. but dont dream like its the only thing you are capable of doing when in reality most people are not capable of doing it. and while you are capable of doing other things.

Kurt warner was working in a grocery store. ole boy whats his name was working at footlocker. there's a lot of these dudes that are silly. they will say "mannnn, i aint working dem kinda jobs. they are beneath me. i'm a star. i'm about to go to the league." and end up broke, homeless, or running from chick to chick, popping out babies they cant take care of along the way.

we've seen this story enough times to know its real. you said you never have seen this story with anyone you've known. thats good. but i have. and so has this teacher and so have many of us in this thread.

There’s worse things in the world than having a goal to strive for. Even if it’s something nearly impossible, like making the NBA, you’re only going to make yourself a better person for trying.
