Probably cause some of the cast threatened to leave and using Gunn’s script was the only way to keep them on board. I’m just guessing though.Apparently, Disney will likely be using Gunn's script for the film, but whatever new director is brought on will presumably make some changes to it.
Sorry this makes zero sense to me. Just let him direct or dont use any of his work. Why half ass it Disney?

Maybe but I didn't take his firing as a moral stance more of a PR move.They fired him over tweets about pedophilia.. I assume that be because they dont want to be associated with that/him... but this person is still a credited writer of the movie?

This is a bigger mistake on Disney's Behalf. Why aren't properly vetting every single person that you hire? A corporation like that should just as thorough as the government.
