Installed the game after playing some of the previous installments. Still feels like an alpha, performance issues mostly. I like the idea of specialists, but they should have kept this in oven until this fall to work out the frame rate issues and other performance issues. When Dice wants to do revolutionary ideas like Hardline or 2042, they really gotta mind their p's and q's, or else the concept will be trashed wholesale with the lacking performance.
Vehicle gameplay seems nonexistent. BF3 we had armored kill. BF4 had naval strike. BF1 had variety of cavalry, tanks (supertanks, heavies, landship, artillery, assault gun, armored tanks), armored cars, airplanes (fighters, bombers, ground attack, heavy bombers, airships, zeppelins), boats( torpedo boats, landing craft, destroyers, battleships. BFV continued the trend from BF1.
Infantry combat in the past had the option of CQB or combined arms with vehicles on the same map. The sandbox feel is gone. I don't know if you can even swim in this game. Maps need more variety. How come we can't fight in the stadium on hourglass? Why isn't the Korean map densely urban like Amiens, Seine Crossing, or Siege of Shanghai? They could have just copied and pasted the downtown LA map from Hardline to use as CQB downtown infantry area for maps in 2042. The biggest thing about Battlefield is choice. Outside of a dlc like Close Quarters. you could play how you wanted. Upclose, sniping a mile away, infantry, vehicles, air support, etc. 2042 feels like you need to have a means of transport at all time with the map size. They got the right idea with the specialists, but just need to clean everything else up. The specialists feel intuitive to me in which classes they fall in, but a good compromise for the purists would be to make them a reinforcement like Battlefront 2, since they are mercenaries in the lore.
BFV was a hella of a polished product, barring the lack of content. It didnt feel slapped together like 2042. Of course, they had to cancel updates right when things were looking up during the Pacific updates.
It's on hiatus for me until they get everything in order.
