bf4 had technical issues. it was always a fundamentally sound game. map design wasnt :trash: like 2042. ui was better, more weapons and customization, no lame ass operators (cash grab if were being honest),

Was about to post this. BF4 was still playable despite the glitches. Hell you can easily have the time of your life with the remake to Metro, over those shytty maps in BF2042.

Lol BF4 and BF2042 share a lot in common in terms of map design. Every map in BF2042 plays like Shanghai and Golmud Railway. Super flat and hardly any cover. BF4 obviously had better maps tho, especially in the expansions.

I really think they can salvage a 8/10 game if theyre able to fix everything wrong in this game and add more content. Whether they can is up in the air. But I'mma keep tabs on their progress.

Fixing the game is possible, but can we trust EA and current dice to make that happen when they're already talking about the next game not even a half year after 2042 dropped?

They'll probably do enough to keep a lawsuit from happening but nothing more than that.

I know it sounds bad they're discussing the next BF game, but realistically, that isn't coming for at least 2-4 years, because that's how long it takes to develop these BF games. And when it comes to these major franchises like BF, COD, Assassins Creed, etc, they always start planning the next game immediately after launch anyways, so this isn't anything new.

DICE said this last week that almost their entire studio is working on 2042 fixes and upcoming content. And last year they said they plan to support the game for "years" despite the negative feedback. So there's some good indication in all this.

I'm not saying DICE will save the game, they most likely won't since most of their old talent from BC2-BF4 glory days is gone, but if they do, there is a decent 8/10 game once everything's fixed and they add more guns and maps. Right now in its current state, the game is more like a 5/10 or 6/10 imo.

That sounds disturbing as hell and makes me understand why gamers still get looked at the way they do. How come it couldn’t just come out playable

DICE is over ambitious with BF games. They promise too much and then can't meet deadlines and have to cut back on ideas and release games broken. Every BF game has had a shytty launch since probably BC2.

Yep they always try to revolutionize or "innovate" when ppl just want BF3 or BC2 but prettier. EA shoulda just mandated "yo just call of duty this shyt wtf are you guys doing?" Maybe try to innovate every 5 or so years once you actually settle your engine instead of starting from scratch every game

battlefield games sustain way higher on pc typically, so the console situation is likely worse

and i don't think BF really has to worry too much about the mnk/controller difficulties because its just never been that kind of game

Done with this franchise unless something is on the level of 3 or BC2. We need to also discuss how the classic FPS genre is in the fukking toilet. BF, COD, and Halo are all ass and there hasn’t been any new IP within four years that’s popped up.
