What everyone needs to understand (read alot of stuff about No Limit's downfall from people involved):
During No Limit's ascension in 96/97 P was TIGHT with KLC, BBTP and UGK. UGK was featured on all his 96/97/98 solo albums, not for business reasons only...
When he started focusing on other ventures/stuff in 1999 (NBA, movies, clothing line, toy line etc) he lost focus, meanwhile 1999 albums got bad reviews (Made Man was trash, Bossalinie a huge disappointment, Da Crime Family barely went platinum as a double CD), he got rid of some of his NL soldiers (Steady Mobb'n, Kane&Abel first for different reasons, then Big Ed, Serv-On, Fiend, Skull and more in late summer), got into business beef with BBTP and UGK (while his personal relationship with both groups was already almost non-existant, C-Murder handled most day-to-day operations at NLR), Cash Money blew up bigtime etc
Summer 1999 was the beginning of the downfall. If he focused on music earlier on (better quality control for Silkk's and C-Murder's albums, disappointing Foolish and Serv-On albums, who the hell needed a Lil Soldiers album??) instead of outside ventures (he surely made his doe with those...), while making ammends with BBTP and UGK (also beefs with C-Bo, Yukmouth, Pastor Troy started, many NL soldiers like Fiend, Serv, Mia and Mystikal were loyal to KLC/BBTP and questioned P's decisions), the downfall wouldn't have been this heavy
Too many shortsighted decisions in 1999 cost him alot in the long run
Meanwhile, Mo B dikk, Mercedes, Fiend and Mac had some really good CD's out and nobody bought 'em. Everyone turned their back on No Limit and rode Cash Money's dikk (industry cats as well)
