@Elle Driver (ONLY because the coli would not allow me to PM her). The same sentiment applies to others in this thread whom I may have unintentionally offended.
I think we may have got off on the wrong foot and certain things were misunderstood and misconstrued.
First and foremost, in the limited time that I've been on the coli, I've respected you and thought you were a down sista. I generally like your perspective and I look up to you on certain issues.
Secondly, as a first-generation Haitian American, I have nothing but respect for African Americans. If you feel that any of my posts were dissing AAs, I am sincerely sorry.
Moreover, I was not attempting to shyt on AAs for their achievements in the Civil Rights Movement. The point I was trying to make was simply that the resources and benefits gained by the movement are not used exclusively by AAs. That goes to my deeper point that Haitian Americans shouldn't be denigrated for taking advantage of resources that were gained by the Civil Rights Movement (many thanks to your ancestors and their ilk) while turning a blind eye towards other non-AAs that do so maliciously.
I know you're an educated and intelligent woman so you can see where I'm coming from when I made that statement. Again, if you feel that I was denigrating AAs or saying that they did not achieve anything through the Movement, I'm sorry.
Lastly, even though I did piss you off or offend you, I don't think any less of you (although I'm disheartened). You're my sista so we're in the same fight. Let's not get caught up in semantics and miss the forest for the trees in our collective fight against white supremacy.
Peace and Love!
