The IBF announced that the deadline for Frankie Gavin to take an eliminator bout with Tim Bradley for Kell Brook's title has expired. They'll now turn to Shaw Porter.
First the IBF offered Amir Khan an eliminator bout with Tim Bradley for the right face Kell Brook for his world title. Khan's team turned down the offer (despite Khan himself saying he never heard a word of it) and so the IBF then provided the offer to Frankie Gavin. They gave Gavin a number of days to accept the offer, but after hearing no word from promoter Eddie Hearn or Gavin, they are now saying that opportunity has expired. Now the IBF is relaying the offer to a third fighter in Shawn Porter.
"I have not heard from Eddie Hearn and the deadline has now passed for Frankie Gavin to agree the eliminator with Timothy Bradley. I will send a letter to number six in the rankings, Shawn Porter," IBF Chairman Lindsey Tucker told World Boxing News late on Tuesday.
This may be a good opportunity for Porter to try and reclaim his IBF title, the same one he lost to the current titleholder in Kell Brook last year. Tim Bradley is obviously no easy task though. He'll be sure to give hell to anyone he steps into the ring with. Should Shawn Porter not accept the IBF eliminator bout with Bradley, Diego Chaves will get the next call.

The IBF welterweight title eliminator has been a talking point of late. After the IBF revealed that Amir Khan’s team turned down the eliminator opportunity against Timothy Bradley, it was offered to next in line, Frankie Gavin. Gavin turned down the opportunity as he was already in talks with IBF champion Kell Brook about a domestic clash, which resulted in the fight being made between the two for May 30. The IBF have now turned to number six in the IBF rankings, Shawn Porter to compete against Bradley for a title opportunity.
Lindsey Tucker, IBF Championships Chairman, confirmed this last week as he told World News Boxing, “I have not heard from Eddie Hearn and the deadline has now passed for Frankie Gavin to agree the eliminator with Timothy Bradley. I will send a letter to number six in the rankings, Shawn Porter.”
Porter is willing to take the IBF eliminator and get his chance to win back the belt he lost in August 2014 to now champion Kell Brook. Speaking to FightHype, Porter confirmed his ambition on Saturday night to take on the IBF title eliminator if offered.
“For me, speaking on the IBF, if they want to get me back in there and give me another shot at Kell [Brook], I’ll take that.” Porter told FightHype. “Right now we are hearing its Timothy Bradley in a title eliminator so we’ll handle that business if that’s what it is.”
Kenny Porter, father to Shawn Porter and acts as his manager and trainer, reiterated Team Porter’s desire to take on Bradley if offered the opportunity in an IBF title eliminator.
“Tim Bradley is a great fighter, his trainers a great trainer and we want to be great. In order to do that you got to go up against great fighters.”

Tim Bradley deciding between K9, Shawn Porter or Brandon Rios
by Tobias Junior 6w ago
Tim Bradley has been a popular name in the sport of boxing for some time, but he’s never had the luxury that he appears to have now in being able to choose his next opponent. After failing to land big fights against Canelo Alvarez, Miguel Cotto and Kell Brook, he now finds himself with 3 other respectable options who are now simply waiting on his announcement.

So, who will Timothy Bradley (31-1-1, 12 KO) fight on June 13th?
Behind door #1 is Shawn Porter:
Porter is a former IBF welterweight title holder who would love a shot at redemption against Kell Brook, the only man to beat him. The IBF initially ordered that Tim Bradley face Amir Khan in a title eliminator, but Khan declined; so, the next ordered bout was Tim Bradley vs. Frankie Gavin.
Gavin, however, was awarded a title shot against Kell Brook on May 30th without needing the Bradley eliminator, which means the next available contender in the rankings is “Showtime” Shawn Porter.
This is a great opportunity for Tim Bradley because should he win, he will be the mandatory challenger for the IBF welterweight title, and the world knows he has his heart set on winning a title since he lost his WBO strap against Manny Pacquiao last April. Both Porter and his father, Kenny Porter, have openly welcomed the Bradley fight, as Bradley has already announced June 13th as the likely date for his next fight.
Behind door #2 is Cornelius “K9″ Bundrage:
The current IBF light middleweight title holder was rumored to be facing Miguel Cotto, but that fight failed to materialize. In December, Bradley’s trainer Joel Diaz said that K9 was on Bradley’s list of fights that he’d welcome, but then all the other aforementioned opponents failed to work out.
Whether Bradley fights at welterweight this year or not, it has been widely speculated that Bradley will at some point move to 154 pounds. This would be a great opportunity for Bradley to win a world title in a third weight class, and it will allow him to make weight more easily as he seems to be outgrowing the 147-pound division.
K9 has also been calling Bradley out on twitter as of late, which is atypical. It’s rare to see anyone call out “Dessert Storm” in such fashion.
Finally, behind door #3 is Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios:
Now, this fight would make less sense and would make Tim Bradley look as if he is ducking Shawn Porter. Although Bradley has never acknowledged Brandon Rios as a possible opponent, Rios has thrown his name in the hat since Bradley hasn’t confirmed his next dance partner just yet.
This would not be a bad matchup, especially since Brandon Rios looked so good against Mike Alvarado in January. It just wouldn’t make much sense given that Bradley’s other two options carry world title implications.
Bradley has often complained about accomplishing so much, yet never having the luxury that other prizefighters have. Well, now he has it. I still don’t think all three men mentioned here will wait for months like fighters do for Floyd Mayweather, but congratulations Tim — the ball is in your court.

Then, Bradley pops up announcing he's fighting Jessie Vargas on June 27th which caused Porter to then get the Broner fight
You didn't watch the Chaves fight if you didn't think Tim looked impressive
I watched it....wasnt impressed breh
AB can't fight inside
That's a blatant lie breh
AB can fight on the inside, this is the 1st time I've ever heard this said.
and isn't active enough to beat Bad Ass Styles makes fights breh, AB doesn't have the output, and Timmy aint an ESPN fighter.
AB isnt an ESPN fighter neither, like Provodnikov who Bradley struggled against. AB is also better than the Devon Alexander Bradley fought, and AB is a more talented fighter than Bradley is overall.
Bottomline, Bradley cant beat us. Nobody who has pillows for fists, is beating Adrien Broner
