This is a more elaborate take than I gave earlier but FSU, like many other universities, are actually casualties of the BCS setup. My Michigan Wolverines are in the same boat. Water always finds its level. Given the current pedigree of both and others of its ilk, not everyone is clearly dying to reach the top. I used to see Bobby Bowden on television every Saturday in my childhood. It's not that special anymore. Same with Bo Schemblecher as well as Lloyd Carr at Michigan. Damn near everyone is on some form of television now. Recruits just aren't as enamored with the winged helmets and tomahawk chop as they used to be when they were the only games in town.

Are you willing to spend and put money up in football like the SEC does? The Longhorns do as does Ohio State, Oklahoma and Clemson. You will have your random breakthroughs like Michigan State and even your FSU teams however, the full cycle of the BCS has taken root here.

It's an arms race that very few will win.

That said, schools that are clearly not the best in their conference like Michigan and Florida State should still have 9-10 wins built in yearly so what Willie Taggart was doing was subpar. However, I'm cautious about proclaiming a return for former glory for this program. I don't see it. There is a new arms race and only a few universities seem to have the heart, will and/or wherewithal to compete in it.

Same shyt happened with my Titans v Ravens. Had a chance to apply pressure and said, "nahhh". Niccas coaching halfway shook. Seem like they were only #AllIn for that Clemson revenge. Im not seeing nearly the variety of calls and aggression.
